Yea, idk I remember saying something about how a lot of people's bar for racism is overt racism it makes a lot of problems invisible. If you're not actively on the receiving end, sure it's invisible and it seems like times were better when you were not actively confronted to take a look at yourself

Also have to note the way the entire framing shifts the focus away from the actual racism on display to how people feel about being associated with racism they’re supposedly disavowing.

None of this is new to me. The thinking, the self-justification, the tendency to find any and every perceived disadvantage as a shield, etc.

I think this is the difference in understanding racism as an organizing principle in society vs understanding racism as the use of a few particular slurs.
