Science Nerd that swears a LOT w/degrees in biochem, nursing. Our home is a bit of a zoo, with the cats and dog. Mom of a grown adult & unsure how that happened. Raised in Northern WI, but now a proud Minnesotan who’s often too direct for the locals.

it’s genuinely hurtful the way some of y’all talk about people with alcohol and substance use disorders. these ghouls in DC will not hear your stigmatizing words, nor do they care. but chances are your neighbors and coworkers and friends in your local AA & NA groups have heard those words

My rep. 💙
The president fails to realize how deeply Somali Americans love this country.

We are doctors, teachers, and elected leaders working to make our country better.

We will not let Trump intimidate or debilitate us. My op-ed:

With this really cold weather we’re having, I am seriously considering making some luminaries over the next few days. From a few years back:

Pantone’s 2026 color of the year is technically not a color at all — meet Cloud Dancer, the first-ever white shade to receive the designation from the world’s color authority.
Pantone makes a surprising choice for its 2026 color of the year
We did not see that coming.

Friends, vikings, countrymen: lend me your eyes. May I present what just happened an hour ago in Iceland?

It was an early, short substorm, but it was a good one. Literal space weather!

Why the hell do they keep complaining about Minnesota and saying horrible things about our governor and our Somali friends?

We’re freakin’ Minnesota.

Everyone else should think about us once or twice a year, tops.

Leave us alone.

We have a quarterback situation to worry about.

So much for watching the horsey show tonight.
Our public teevee channels have been dark for awhile. Is this happening to anyone else?

I was getting down from a shelf above my head in my kitchen, a large bag of potato starch. I dropped it. It exploded and this is basically what I looked like. It got alllll over my countertops, stovetop, floors. It was so bad. 😭

I’ve had to take a gummy to chill out.

This practice is so confusing to me. We don’t have a garage for the first time in 20 years in which to park our one car—and I only have the engine warming and defroster running for around 5 minutes at most while I scrape and brush off the car.
I don't get the obsession with warming up the car before driving in the winter. We all know that with modern fuel injection we don't need to do that for the vehicle, right? People complain how 2 minutes of congestion increases air pollution but think nothing of idling for 10-30 minutes.
