My sweet local bookstore is doing a fundraiser where if you donate, you get a mystery book (wrapped up like a holiday gift with a genre label). So of course I made a donation to NAYA and picked a book labeled LGBTQ Romance. I brought it home and my teen immediately swiped it.

I made a cranberry upside down cake and I’ll be making it again with more orange zest closer to Christmas. It’s tart but balanced so it’s delicious as a brunch coffee cake and would be great with a scoop of ice cream for dessert.

I just finished this and it’s really a delightful read. More beheadings than you’d expect in a romance and possibly not enough cheese making (I was fascinated and wanted more), but I was invested in the characters immediately and I liked how it came together.
A BLOOMY HEAD is my first historical romance, set in 1820 Shropshire. Dr. Thomas Holyoke has been unceremoniously ejected by a horrible injury from the British military, and finds himself being taken home to the chaotic family of his surgical assistant, Henry Gravenor.

When your face is the same color as your magenta shirt, you know you danced pretty hard. I’ve been getting back into Zumba after a long knee-related* hiatus, and it’s such a joy to go dance in a community. My moves are rusty but my heart is full.
