WAKE UP DEAD MAN: Rian Johnson switches it up again, using his whodunnit series as a way to examine faith and human frailty. There’s a wonderful little scene with Bridget Everett that starts as character comedy and becomes a moving short story about being one’s best self. That’s the movie.

I’d never seen the animated ANASTASIA til recently and three things:
1. Jesus it’s nice to watch large scale hand-drawn animation. The craft is mind-boggling.
2. Absolutely fucking nuts to give the Disney princess treatment to the Romanovs.
3. Rasputin is, of course, friends with a talking bat.
