Sitting outside at night with my little telescope and marveling at our universe. We are so lucky to be alive and witnessing these wonders, and we are also so small and alone, together, in a vast and empty space. It’s a good reminder that we MUST take care of each other; we are all we have.

Sh2-142, the Wizard Nebula, and open cluster NGC 7380 are located about 8500 light years away in the direction of Cepheus. The red glowing emission nebula is primarily heated by the massive binary star system DH Cephei

Yea, verily didst I do battle against mine enemy, the english ivy, and forsooth, the birds of the field are seen foraging along the unshackled earth.
(Or, yesterday I ripped out a bunch more invasive ivy in my ongoing battle, and today the birdies are having fun looking for treats in that spot!) 🌱

Y'all the latest episode of the #Kilauea #eruption just went CRAZY. It looks like pressure built up enough to explode out the ground around the two existing vents (first few seconds), leading to a massive surge in lava fountaining.🌋🤯

I think too often physics students unconsciously have the idea that some people have brains that are "natural" for physics and some don't and who knows maybe that's true to some extent but regardless of natural tendency at some point everyone has to practice practice practice

It’s the last day of Nov and we have already had freezing temperatures overnight a few times, but my Turk’s Cap (Malvaviscus arboreus var. drummondii) is still happily blooming! 🌱 🌺 #nativeplants
