Beans, or green veggies! A cheese sauce on broccoli to get your kids to eat the broccoli doesn’t cancel out the broccoli-ness of it all.

Great thread, of course, by @jessicavalenti.bsky.social on the malignancy of this frame..... "Why decline all these chances to defend feminism? Because to participate would be accepting the premise that our rights and humanity are up for debate in the first place."
Because it’s not just Bari Weiss’ CBS asking this question—in the last few months, I’ve been approached by half a dozen different shows looking to ‘debate’ the same topic.

I even got a request from NPR-distributed “Open to Debate” to see if I’d weigh in on “Has Feminism Hurt Women?”

Now would be a great time for a 10 episode, 20 hour prestige series about the ten years between 1916 and 1926, covering the establishment of the 8-hr work day & 5-day work week, in the US. Each episode would be one year & the middle episode should be entirely devoted to the Battle of Blair Mountain.

We live in the northeast. Our monthly gas and electric bill, thanks to our solar panels, hovered around the $250 mark for the last four years. January’s bill? $1257 thanks to…THE TARIFFS!! It seems Canada supplies our electricity.I expected a cardiac event over our insurance costs, but electricity??

Remember that brief shining moment when Medicare told hospitals it wouldn't reimburse them for the extended stay due to hospital acquired infections? Because something like a third of hospital stays ended up with new infections. And they literally cleaned up their act?

Coming back to this, I'm still struck by the implication that academics should care if the AI pushers "trust" all our work that's done without AI.

I don't know, man, you all seemed to trust our work enough to steal it from us wholesale.
I would struggle to trust an academic who doesn‘t know how to
use AI tools.
Which is not the same as not being critical.

If someone had walked up to Logan in the street and lamped him, I’d be against it. But given that he begged, pleaded, BESEECHED the boxing world to let him get punched in the face by extremely serious people who punch people in the face for a living and for the love of punching then I’m all for it.
I’m not the biggest fan of boxing as a concept, but I do think we’re at the point where the only thing that’s going to prove to some people that they aren’t the main character with pro level skills at anything they want is to be punched in the face repeatedly.

it’s just photos on a desk! it’s not even in the same league as his fucking birthday note! removing it after the fact is the biggest possible “we are covering shit up” signal they could possibly send, couldn’t look guiltier if they tried
This photo, file 468, from the Epstein files that includes Donald Trump has apparently now been removed from the DOJ release.

AG Bondi, is this true? What else is being covered up? We need transparency for the American public.
