On that last post: I genuinely cannot think of any good-faith reason to bar international adoptions from those 39 countries. Under this new ban, consulates will refuse adoption visas for any baby from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Nigeria, or any of the 39 other countries.

doing video also feels particularly Problematic for those of us with gender dysphoria

many of us were I think drawn to the Internet in the first place because it was a space where we could exist and socialize without being ceaselessly visually perceived (and thus gendered)
I agree that it’s 100% true that the eyeballs are all on short form video - and man, it’s still really depressing how the necessity of Doing Video nowadays seriously disadvantages people who aren’t conventionally attractive (or who just genuinely can’t stand being on camera)
The one thing I keep thinking about is how much direct to camera stuff rewards physical attractiveness. I mean, that's gotta be part of the reason these wellness influencers are successful, right? And you're competing for eyeballs with them.

As more and more creators are expected to be on camera to promote their comics, can we talk for a second about how this opens up female creators to intense harassment about their looks?

Not to mention a lot of "You only have a career in comics because you're good looking" comments?

Roomba was the first, and for a long time the only, somewhat viable consumer robotics company. Before them the robot business was all defense contracts and stuff like sheep shearing. Making money on robots is waaaaay harder than science fiction (and current robotics hype) let on.
iRobot, the company that makes the Roomba robot vacuum cleaner, has filed for bankruptcy. It has reached a restructuring support agreement that will hand control to its main supplier and lender Shenzhen PICEA Robotics, and Santrum Hong Kong. bloom.bg/49aEN06

Part of the Chanukah tradition is to place the light menorah either outside or in a window where outsiders can see it. This is supposed to advertise the miracle of Chanukah. These days, it is also a way of saying, “This is a Jewish home.”

Every year I think about how it is also an act of bravery.

It's because she doesn't know how to be the head of CBS News. Just no clue what a person in this role does. Similar to how Pete Hegseth and Sean Duffy don't know how to be cabinet secretaries.

A hallmark of this movement is people being out of their depth. It says, "expertise is unnecessary."
I’m sorry but why is the head of cbs news on tv herself

I have a theory about this. Regular people want tech to reduce our real-life burdens: cooking, errands, dishes, and definitely laundry. Rich tech bros already have "staff" to take care of all that for them, so they don't care. 1/
