It’s important to understand what Republicans mean by this I think.

They mean no one gets any accommodation so if the state is oppressing black voters and privileging white voters, that’s like a natural state and attempts to fix that are UNEQUAL.

The fight here with Gorsuch and Kav vs Nelson is whether the "use" of race automatically means "discrimination" on the basis of race.

That's interesting to me, because it's basically the white folks telling on themselves. They cannot see a "use" of race that isn't synonymous with discrimination.

Canada's economy has a *lot* of room to grow, particularly investing in renewables installation, electrification, pharma R&D, and refreshing infrastructure we built out in the mid-20th century. And we'll get the most benefit if we take care of everyone at the same time.

Comparing Canada's current fiscal situation to 1995 is also missing a big part of the picture: www.imf.org/external/dat... - in 1995, we were *far above* peer countries in terms of debt:GDP. The subsequent decade brought us down into the pack, and we've stayed there ever since.

Also that evidence of employability (and job satisfaction and all the rest of it) has been around for AGES and it never actually seems to make a difference to the choices governments and university administrators make to where the money - not to mention the respect - goes.

based on how employable our students are and while there is so much data showing that our students are very employable I just feel so discouraged that these are the pressures and strategies we are clinging to instead of the core principle "it's good for people to be curious and liberally educated."
