6/ Europe, in my view, should remain strong and become more assertive toward its adversaries. We have returned to a world where power is defined solely by those holding the biggest clubs. And if you don’t have big enough club - you will be someone’s breakfast

5/ I am not convinced the United States will navigate its political crisis without some form of violent outcome during the next presidential election, as one side has clear incentives not to relinquish power even if it loses, something that has already been attempted once.

CONFUSION OVER MYRONRAHD

Some Ukrainian sources are insistent that the town has been cut off and Ukrainian Marines are trapped there, others saying it’s still being supplied by drones and it’s not inescapable.
My view is if we have reached the point it’s not yet inescapable then it soon will be so

Syrskyi has moved past that phase. His wording is precise, careful, and meant to reset expectations about the nature of the fight in Pokrovsk. The soldiers on the ground who are bleeding Russia already know exactly what the situation is.

More importantly, Syrskyi never made such a claim, yet Warshall and other pro-Ukrainian channels are repeating it as if he did. This kind of oversimplification misleads civilians and distorts public understanding of an already complex and deteriorating situation.

Syrskyi’s point was precise.

Presenting the entire northern sector as “held” territory, in a words and images, creates a false impression of control that does not exist on the ground and contradicts every credible frontline assessment.

"The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to hold the northern part of Pokrovsk, the battle is ongoing." - Warshall (and others)

This Warshall map does harm to Ukraine’s war effort because it bears no resemblance to the context of Syrskyi’s statement or the tactical reality in Pokrovsk.

This is my big soap box. We gave the presidency too much power with the PATRIOT Act, extrajudicial drone strikes, indefinite detention and the creation of the Department of Homeland Security. Trump is just using executive authority Congress gave to the presidency after 9/11 to maximum effect.
Congress, in my opinion has ceded too much of its authority to the Executive Branch in the last nearly quarter of a century. What the administration has been doing is simply part the Post 9/11 legacy. It’s got to stop. I say this as a GWOT era veteran.
Credit to Rand Paul. He hated extrajudicial drone strike killings under Obama and he HATES them under Trump where Congress has given no authorization.

It doesn’t hurt to just walk away. The administration is just discrediting US foreign policy and setting itself up for failure every time they placate to Putin’s wishes. What worries me is Trump just giving into everything Putin wants and casting out Ukraine entirely.

Putin has nothing to gain from peace on its own. It will have to be peace as a result of Ukraine's surrender. The U.S. is only interested in short term cash gains for the regime leaders so Putin can pay them off if they push Ukraine to surrender.
Vladimir Putin has used a blend of charm, stalling and pointed threats to show US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner exactly where Russia stands on peace with Ukraine, making the Americans wait several hours for a meeting about ending the war in Ukraine.
