I was still smoking pipe tobacco when I did my MA, and I used smoking pipe for my breaks then. It's a good break because you need to focus on packing the pipe and on smoking—it's not like a cigarette. Anyway, that attention took my mind of my thesis and gave my thinking a break.
But anyway, I'm playing chess as little breaks while working on my dissertation, and it helps!
I think it helps because I have to focus on the game, which means I have to stop thinking about my diss.

As I said the other day, I believe the "pie in the sky" plans for the pipeline are secondary in this collaboration. The primary gesture of this Carney-Smith collaboration is to deploy the idea of this pipeline to strip away regulations on industry and extraction.
Carney's so-called "grand bargain" with Smith is really more of a "grand giveaway", as Carney moves to roll back multiple key policies designed to protect Canada's environment:
