I'm 36F and have always been a very hard worker. I work at an arts festival in a super niche role as the head of marketing and events - there is literally nowhere else I could do what I do. I've been there 18 years (started as a college intern) and now make ~$130k annually, on top of it being my absolute dream job and fulfilling my passion.

When I met my husband (35M), I actually earned more than he did at the time. From the start he knew my demanding work schedule and we explicitly discussed that I would keep working even with kids. We both agreed we wanted two children.

Since then, his career unexpectedly skyrocketed - he's an airline pilot now making ~$330k (will fluctuate between $280-330k). We rent close to my job so I can have a 5-minute commute and be the default on-call parent. Because we both work odd hours, we have a nanny - - but we didn't want to pay for nanny time while I'd be commuting.

Our first child was born with some very mild health complications (not life-altering but enough to add stress). I want to pick up the house hunt we started before my LO arrived, and am ready to buy a home in the $750-850k range near my work (high COL area). He now says he doesn't think it's responsible that I work so much, and compares it to "someone who gets a big dog in a city apartment and is never home to walk

He wants me to quit, move to rural Michigan (LOCL) where his family lives (just over an hour drive away from where we currently live), become basically a stay-at-home/tradwife, and raise kids there... even though before marriage he agreed that NOT moving there was a hard boundary for me.

His position is: "having a child changed my mind - it made me realize how important family is." And last night he said he will not try for a second child unless I agree to quit my job and move to Michigan.

I feel like the deal changed after the baby was here. My career is not easily replaced. I actually like working. And we had aligned on this before marriage.

If you were in my position, what would you do?
