Good people need to start outing their ICE family members, neighbors, and community members.

They need to be made into pariahs in the places decent Americans gather.

🚨BREAKING🚨: Portland Frog receives Nobel Peace Prize.

This would make inflatable frog costumes illegal at protests, and we all know there's nothing the Trumpist regime fears more than inflatable frogs.

We are seeing dozens of these videos every day. It's happening all over the ocuntry. I know many people are outraged but it's just continuing unabated.

This feeling of impotence is devastating. How does it end? With the country emptied of brown people and dissidents in jail?

Northwest Chicago Suburb: ICE Agents Rip 15-Year-Old Girl from Car, Slam Her to Ground She Screams “I’m 15!” as Man Kneels on Her Neck

Also: if you work for ICE, even if you’re not one of the ones arresting citizens or tackling 15-year-olds or zip-tying kids together and segregating them by race, you’re part of the mechanism making it happen, and you should suffer long-term social and post-regime-change consequences.

Some weirdo on Twitter has been absolutely melting down for like 36 straight hours because I posted:

When this is over, do not forget what ICE did, and what ICE is. And do not make room for them in society. Make sure they know that they are, and will continue to be, reviled and beneath contempt.

Qatari soldiers in Idaho will have better access to health care than Americans.

4/ I guess my point is, don't overthink this. Gestures of non-violent resistance work, whether grand or absurd, whether stuffed with symbolism or weirdly stochastic. The key is to display fearlessness in the face of threatened state violence, and to deny Trump the violence he so desperately craves.

3/ Dressed for combat and armed to the teeth, back off from the air-humping inflatable frog and you look weak and ridiculous. But strike back at the frog and you look even worse. It makes it as impossible for authorities to win the visuals as Gandhi's Salt March did.
goldy.horsesass.org
2/ Yes, the frog is an absurdist non-sequitur, whereas the flowers were more overtly symbolic. But they both comfortably sit within the long tradition of non-violent resistance as advocated by Gandhi and MLK and others. They both create a no-win scenario for authorities trying to win public opinion.

1/ A lot of people seem to have theories about the Portland Frog, and I find some of Sarah's analysis to be intriguing. But I'm old enough to remember the "Flower Power" photo of a protester putting flowers in the barrels of guardsmen's guns, and I don't think the frog is qualitatively different.
Photojournalist Bernie Boston's famous "Flower Power" photo of a Vietnam War protester placing flowers in the barrels of guardsmen's guns.

Remember the eerily prophetic 2011 Soderbergh film, "Contagion"? They pretty much just fired all the heroes in it.
luckytran.com
They have fired the staff of the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report and 70 Epidemic Intelligence Service officers, who are disease detectives that respond to outbreaks around the world.

I cannot emphasize enough how dangerous it is to dismantle our disease surveillance infrastructure.

The Trump Administration can only use the economic desperation of everyday Washingtonians as an ICE recruiting tool if we allow it to.

Let's talk about it at my "Tax The Rich" town hall on Saturday 10/11 3:30 PM @ Seattle First Baptist Church.

If the NYT wants to be truly relevant and useful they should hire a "Frugal Refugee" columnist to share money-saving hacks with U.S. expatriates fleeing fascist oppression at home through self-deportation abroad.

Had Bray and his family been murdered, they would have ended their statement almost exactly the same way because Turning Point USA is a domestic terrorist organization.
azrww.bsky.social
Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet responded to the harassment their organization contributed to that forced Rutgers professor Mark Bray to flee the country. The full statement is long, but here’s how he ended it:
Good riddance to him and good luck, Spain.
America and Rutgers are better off without him. But it begs the question: Why is Rutgers employing an advocate for political violence? He should be immediately fired and the university should disavow his vile, un-American ideas.

NEW: @CDCgov hit hard by massive firings that several staff describe to me as a “bloodbath.”
Among those RIFd:
—leadership of the center for immunization and respiratory diseases;
—leadership of global health center
—leadership of the measles outbreak response; 1/4

The lesson the Trump regime learned from the Covid pandemic was that they missed an opportunity to declare an emergency, impose martial law, and establish a fascist authoritarian police state. They're just hoping to create a second opportunity.

The CDC official who was leading the measles response and was RIFd has more than 28 yrs experience as the senior USG official leading outbreaks on Ebola, Marburg virus, and mpox. 2/4

A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.

They are cooking the books on job creation.

Now they are rigging death numbers so no one knows how many people die because of their attacks on vaccines and science.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

Yup, the thing about vote-by-mail is that there is always a paper trail. Random precinct audits would find any discrepancy with the scanning or tallying systems.
