Leftism doesn't mean "I get other people's labor for free because I'm poor" and Capitalism isn't a synonym for "selling things." At this rate, online leftists are going to polarize themselves into fighting wars for Anthropic and OpenAI bc they've "nationalized art."
Just saw someone claim that authors who want to be paid for their work are "class traitors" because we "only let the wealthy" read our books, and I think I need to go into the woods to scream into the night for a bit.

It's $5, not your first-born child! I need that $5 for health insurance!

It's so interesting that the AI boosters have popped up asking if Bluesky is ready to accept the good word of prophet Sam Altman yet, at the EXACT time that the timeline is lit up with the "OpenAI says they can't be blamed for driving a teen to suicide because the TOS says you can't kill yourself"

Mulligan’s mother Liz, 39, said: “I thought the essential oils would calm her symptoms and correct the chemical imbalances causing her outbursts. A mummy blogger said so, and running a blog basically makes you Hippocrates.”
Essential oils fail to cure child’s autism, succeed in making her smell like cat piss
A mother’s attempt to cure her child’s autism using essential oils has only resulted in making her smell as if a cat has urinated all over her, witnesses have claimed. Ellie Mulligan, seven, had just…

AI is a very general term, you have to be more specific. Do you mean the AI that stole my copyright, the chatbot causing teen suicide and psychosis, the deepfake porn of women without their consent, the bots driving political division or the ones polluting communities and driving electric bills up?

I know we kid but there’s a really ugly parenting culture playing out in response to not understanding the “autistic child being told to stop it” piece is satire - mainly saying things like “I should try this” or “if only it were that easy” and those people can get fucked

I'm trying to be kind about this, but if you can't get through a single sentence of mechanical text without producing something which admits three equally plausible but mutually exclusive interpretations, this is possibly not the best genre to set your sights on for your very first published game.

Like, the adversarial play that D&D4E and its imitators are built on only works because the rules are sufficiently rigorous that the GM rarely ever NEEDS to interpret, and is thus free to assume the role of an opposing player and do their level best to kill the party off when hostilities break out.

The downside to D&D4E being so hugely influential in the indie RPG sphere in spite of Hasbro's best efforts to kill is that we've now got a whole new species of fantasy heartbreaker where the problem isn't a failure of imagination, but the fact that the author can't do technical writing for shit.

IGN is paying attention to censorship again. Use their momentum, call visa and mastercard, tell them you read the article, ask them why they're censoring legal stuff

reminder that you don't need to know specifics of what's at play. It's often better to sound like a normie

NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

I've been saying this since LLMs first started gaining traction - their entire model of "intelligence" is based on outdated neurological theories which have BEEN outdated for a long time, and which they cling to despite their obvious falseness because they imply making AGI is easier than the reality
I’ve been running around asking tech execs and academics if language was the same as intelligence for over a year now - and, well, it isn’t. @benjaminjriley.bsky.social explains how the bubble is built on ignoring cutting-edge research into the science of thought www.theverge.com/ai-artificia...

You could argue that, in the interests of accuracy, editorial policy should dictate that when prominent "gender critical" people are quoted, they should be described thusly:

- "<GC name>, a middle-aged woman with no relevant qualifications or expertise and an obsession with other people's bits"
To any of my cis followers who might be wondering what's wrong with the BBC's phrasing...

- "biological male" is deliberate misgendering
- it also implies that trans people are somehow being deceptive, because "biology"
- no trans person "identifies as" *anything*. We just *are*

Hope that helps.
It looks like that BBC page has been updated in the last few minutes, so that's no longer the last sentence. I think part of it has been moved to this paragraph in the middle of the article, and the age is no longer mentioned:
