One of the most interesting aspects for me in this whole AI mess is how keen people are to tell you they use it. Just openly volunteering that they took a shortcut, that they didn't actually do the work, that they are so bad at their jobs they have to outsource it to a magic 8 ball.

Spider-Man’s lesser known skill of being able to tie his legs in a knot
What the hell is happening with Spider-Man’s legs and how did this ever make it to print??

Why is someone ALWAYS trying to reboot The Prisoner when we've already got Stephen Fry and Jools Holland??

Dress like that in Fife you'd get an absolute doing.
Thinking through Velazquez in 1866 with this wonderful painting of a young fifer. By Edouard Manet, born OTD 1832.

Been doing a bit of detective work on some tiny (about 2cm tall) photos in my family album. Got the macro lens out, and have now identified these as the actors Henry Hinchcliffe Ainley (father of Anthony Ainley who appeared in Dr Who) and Evelyn Millard, and dated both photos to 1902.

People often invoke George Orwell when discussing the grim state of the world, but Hans Christian Anderson, with his story about a vain, gullible emperor, and the townsfolk who are too afraid to challenge his stupidity, doesn't get the credit he's due.

My city proclaims that people make Glasgow. Then let Glasgow artists make art.
NEW: Glasgow City Council has just approved a massive AI-generated mural to be painted in the city centre.

The illustration of Scottish elements inexplicably contains a bald eagle.

The planner says those upset about it are "keyboard warriors" who should "calm down"

Public libraries should grow in number and size in proportion to an area's population. New housing is great but only if there's also a public lending library with a good stock of books, journals, music, and tools. And librarians. It's not a library without librarians.

I was not bullied because I was Autistic.

I was bullied because other people were cruel.
I was bullied because other people were not Autistic and didn't understand Autistic people.

And no, I would not like to be more like them just to make them stop.

There was an inadvertent theme to the first two books I read this year, so I continued it for a while!

It's not that common a letter anyway. You can get around it in most cases by usings Cs, Ks and other letters depending on how the word is pronounced

Technically the Bighty Burn, which is culverted practically under my house, but if I have to go for one people have heard of, the River Leven or the Forth!
Reskeet this with your home river.

Mine is the South Saskatchewan River.
My favorite Twitter prompt was "RT this with your home river," so reskeet this with your home river.

Mine is the Patuxent.

I LOVE this. Columbo is basically more a fae creature disguised as a beggar than a cop.

On one hand, Columbo is a police lieutenant, which is bad. On the other hand, Columbo makes more sense if you view him not as a cop but as some sort of supernatural entity, like a fey

I remember being at my grandparents’ house when my parents went on a trip to Switzerland when I’d not long turned 3, and pouring water over my dad in the garden on a scorching day a few months later
What is your earlier memory, and how old are you in it? I stole my sister's trike and mum came out and told me off. I was about 4. 1980. Like Keith Moon, I have no memories of the seventies.
