#NowPlaying an autumny album for me. Heading toward halloween.
Miles Davis loved a nod toward the supernatural with track/album titles such as ESP, Prince of Darkness, Sorcerer, The Serpent's Tooth, Live-Evil, Dr. Jeykll, Dark Magus, Bitches Brew, Miles Runs the Voodoo Down...

From what I recall, the scripted sitcom/comedy characters, particularly Inman's Mr Humphries (and Dick Emery) were quite candid about their sexual preferences.

After 110 years on Cornmarket, stationery shop W.H. Smith has been rebranded T.G. Jones – a name invented by investment company Modella Capital, which acquired the high street shops in June. The Abingdon branch was renamed in August. www.oxfordhistory.org.uk/cornmarket/e...
The new frontage on Cornmarket - alas, not Smith but Jones

Oh, absolutely. Culture at the time, from TV shows down to the playground, was rife with derogatory epithets.

The UK has a tradition of camp comedians/comedy actors, so I would have been 7 or 8 years old in the mid-late 70s watching John Inman in 'Are You Being Served', Larry Grayson on 'The Generation Game', or Melvyn Hayes in 'It Ain't Half Hot, Mum'. All mainstream Saturday evening family shows.

Serious question, when did you find out a sexuality other than heterosexual existed?

Media, year, situation is what I'm getting at.

I'm so genuinely curious about this

#NowPlaying Living Time by Bill Evans and George Russell.
Like someone spiked the BBC Concert Orchestra with an amphetamine/LSD cocktail then locked them in a dark hall full of wild, starving apex predators.
An overlooked #jazz classic.

Only Connect and University Challenge automatically having to make way for a football match reminds me that I was born into a culture with questionable morals.

Joyce and Ulysses are tedious. An unhinged opinion I share with Woolf (I pefer her To the Lighthouse). Proust is better than Joyce. An unhinged opinion I share with Proust.
Oh, and Dickens is shit.

Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

There was a guy called in the 60s called John Cura who took 250k 'tele-snaps', up to 80s shots per programme, which he sold to actors/directors. In some cases, his shots are all that remain of lost TV episodes, including Doctor Who.
