The average US taxpayer spends $36 a year on SNAP

You know what they spend on corporate subsidies? $670

Poor and disabled people who need food are not the problem

If you’re angry about “your money” feeding people but not angry it’s giving tax cuts to the wealthy?

You’re doing their dirty work.
Just dark meat, stuffing, Brussels sprouts, cranberries, gravy, apple pie.

Republicans still control the House.
Republicans still control the Senate.
Republicans still control the White House.

This is still their shutdown.

NEWS: In the Rhode Island case, per the minute entry, "the Court orders the USDA to distribute contingency funds; report to the Court by 12:00 PM on Monday, November 3, 2025, regarding the status of the distribution; and to honor the existing waivers."

BOSTON (AP) — Judges order the federal government to use contingency funds for SNAP food aid payments during the shutdown.
USDA must distribute funds. Ordering a status report by Monday at noon. If USDA chooses not to use its discretion not to make full payments, it must come up with a plan that is not arbitrary and capricious to (something about how limited funds will be distributed).
Court will also issue an injunction on the waiver issue
"There is no doubt...that irreparable harm will begin to occur...if SNAP benefits are not paid..."
"SNAP benefits have *never* until now been terminated." U.S. has admitted that contingency funds have been used, and gave no reason why they coudl nto be used now as they were planned to be used in 2019.

Never in the history of this country has a president stopped SNAP benefits, even during a government shutdown.

Hunger isn't political. Republicans are playing games with our families', elders', and disabled neighbors' next meal.
Massachusetts AG: Hunger isn't political. I'm proud to co-lead this coalition of Democratic AGs and governors to go to the court and require the Trump administration to continue SNAP benefits across the country. Over 42 million Americans depend on these benefits.

I love how Rep. Joe Neguse reframed this question.
That thought process is not the most nuanced

on a purely selfish level, "this group is not welcome in the public sphere" may not always start with Jews but it always ends with Jews.

"x group cannot go to the toilet" is the same as "Jews may not walk on the pavement, they must walk in the gutter"

Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

Remember: The richest 1% evade over $160 billion in taxes every year.

That amount would fund SNAP for a year with money to spare.

Ask yourself who the real freeloaders are.

Kentucky like Oklahoma Governor is following Trump's orders to squeeze all Americans for every dollar they can get out of us. It's highway robbery as Trump burns up millions of taxpayer $$$s daily.

"Stephen Miller soon joined a growing list of senior Trump-administration political appointees—at least six by our count—living in Washington-area military housing, where they are shielded not just from potential violence but also from protest." Others include Marco Rubio, Kristi Noem, Pete Hegseth.

BREAKING: Democrats just tried to pass a standalone bill to fund WIC & SNAP to make sure families don't go hungry during the Republican shutdown.

Republicans BLOCKED it. So Trump won't use emergency funds to keep SNAP running, and Republicans won't let any bills pass. Shameful.

Yes. All the empirics on misinformation indicate that the way to defeat bad ideas is to mock and marginalize them. Constantly declaring "hey the far right isn't so bad" is a terrible strategy both morally and electorally.

Dems should be way more comfortable saying "look at these fucking psychos"
Progressives really hope, and maybe even believe, that there is some magic thing they can hijack to attract conservative voters.

The focus on this mythical quest is the central reason they lose.
I found this piece sad too, but mostly because it is part of a years-long effort by progressives to understand what "really" animates Trump voters.

We already know! It is racism, misogyny and misinformation. I know that sounds condescending or whatever but it's simply what all evidence suggests.
