I don't think women younger than 45ish are going to be able to stomach the indignities these fuckers would like to impose on them. Not that we old ladies are any more able to, but this is familiar terrain. I hoped that the younger women would never know this kind of humiliation. At work, especially.

If you're unaware that Barbara Lee was the lone voice in DC from the jump against both invasions, the Patriot Act, against forming DHS and ICE, then I guess it's easier to be confused about why this all happened.

Idk, man, Barbara Lee wasn't confused. She was clear in her vision and her rhetoric.

It would all be easier to take if I didn't remember this one bit of history. Sort of a Babe Ruth calling her shot. There's a through line that was obvious to Lee at the time. And obvious to a lot of older Bluesky users at the time.

She said it could happen, and this would be how it starts.

Forklift operator Paulo Cesar Gamez Lira was detained after unmarked vehicles and plainclothes officers surrounded his car back in August. Two of his four US citizen children were in the vehicle whim. Video footage reviewed by Texas Monthly showed that one of his children began to weep from terror.
