The Trump-Vance mass deportation plans are sickeningly extreme. Most Americans don't support them and Dems have room to go on offense on this. Ad by me and the geniuses I am incredibly lucky to work with at Way to Win, production by Conexión. (both not on here yet)

No idea why an Afghan refugee shot National Guard soldiers within walking distance of the White House, but this new USCIS directive was revealed on Monday. Worth noting.
The folks at @afghanevac.bsky.social have in hand a new USCIS directive which largely targets Afghan refugees who fled the Taliban in the wake of the U.S. withdrawal in 2021.

In case you needed a reminder that the most loathsome people in the world work for DHS.

So so well and perfectly put
I really agree. All that talk about bubbles and global theories of influence or lost influence. I hang out here almost entirely because I just enjoy it. I don’t enjoy getting bombarded garish hate and vitriol and stupidity. I wouldn’t go to the party in real life. Why would I online?

Dear City of Berkeley parking cop who gave me a handwritten warning instead of ringing me up for parking in the (admittedly poorly marked) unloading zone while I went in to pick up my Turkey Trot stuff: I have donated a guess at the amount the ticket would have been to the Alameda County Food Bank.

National Guard troops don't sign up to be used as political pawns. They sign up to serve their country, not needlessly deploy to American cities to pick up garbage. These two soldiers should be alive right now and at home with their families for Thanksgiving. I'm furious.

precisely my thought. the president and his dumbass republican allies put these men and women into harm’s way for a political stunt and look what has happened
Whether this was random street crime or targeted political violence, I think it was bad for the president to unnecessarily put the National Guard in harm’s way like this. They simply don’t need to be there.

Let's play, "Who's the Traitor?"

1. Decorated War Hero & US Senator who reminds service members of oath to uphold constitution & that they are not required to follow patently illegal orders.
2. US Envoy to Russia with murky financial ties to country who coaches Putin on ways to play Trump

We took the train up to UC Davis for a football game last weekend. Strongly recommend both Amtrak and Aggies football. Great small stadium experience. But I was reminded why I can’t quite hang with the YIMBY. I want us to build housing but this is turning farmland into traffic and isolation.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

The Devil is stayin busy during Thanksgiving week:
MO Republicans are doing everything they can to thwart a veto referendum that would block the state's new congressional gerrymander.

The latest: The SoS drafted an extremely slanted summary to describe the referendum to voters. Organizers are now suing. www.the-downballot.com/p/morning-di...

over the years, Collins notably refused to engage in state ballot referenda, like on marriage twice

To paraphrase what Zohran Mamdani said of Trump, Susan Collins, one of the people in Maine with the most power, is now expending her energy targeting those with the least

Craven is too kind
In case anyone is wondering what kind of campaign Collins intends to run next year, now we know. No achievements, only hate:

I swore an oath to the Constitution in 1986. I've upheld it through 25 years of service and every day since I retired.

If Trump's trying to intimidate me, it won’t work. I’ve given too much to our country to be silenced by bullies who care more about power than the Constitution.
