Everyone knows printing drones en masse doesn't require supply lines
The Pentagon is testing portable 3D-printing labs in Hawaii that let soldiers design, print and assemble drones in hours–a bid to turn fragile supply lines into on-demand battlefield factories.

I'm going to use this poll as an excuse to once more state my old hobby-horse that the average Finn didn't know how bad a state the Swedish Armed Forces were in 10-15 years ago, but also these days fail to recognise how much of an improvement has happened since.
Finländare litar inte på det svenska försvaret
Ny mätning visar att svenskar har högt förtroende för Finlands försvarsmakt. Men trots ökat samarbete litar finländarna inte på det svenska försvaret.

The sun is visible in parts of Finland today. So the national news has a live stream of the sun rising in Helsinki.

Just to give you an idea what the start of this winter has been like. 😅

39E Gripen demonstrating its higher internal fuel and longer range by three aircraft without drop tanks leading the traditional Swedish Air Force Christmas tree-formation flight over the country in front of their 39C counterparts who are doing the same trip with two (1,100 ltr?) underwing tanks.
Förhållandena för foto var inte de bästa igår, men det blev bilder i alla fall, till skillnad från förra året.
Man kan i alla fall se att de tre främsta maskinerna var 39E. Alla tre hade de större vingrodren monterade.

New 5 GHz interference (Sentinel-1 center freq 5.405GHz) has appeared over Kola recently.

Lines intersect in the vicinity of Gadzhievo.

When Norway launched their frigate programme, I questioned whether their timeline was realistic.

When the Swedish deadline for the Luleå-class crept closer, I said that it was rapidly becoming unrealistic.

I'm sorry about the harsh words, fellow Nordics! Your schedules are downright conservative 😶

I think the answer is "More than we think we can, but less than we need to be able to do". That definitely applies in the NB region, where our NATO Enhanced Forward Presence contribution is underpowered & a long way from potential reinforcements in a crisis.
What I ask every time when I talk to British officials is:

What are you able and willing to do without the US ?

Because that is the no. 1 question on my mind looking at the UK from the Nordic-Baltic region, where faith in the UK is perhaps even a bit unrealistically strong.
I agree. I understand the urge to keep trying to stop Trump doing more harm to UK interests, but Starmer & other European leaders need an honest conversation with voters about the effect of US abandonment on our security, & what we now need to do to protect ourselves.

All low-viz paint jobs are basically the same, but I will say the
Finnish Air Force crest on the tail is a nice touch 👍

Christianity is a rather wide tent, but if you adress a particular theological topic, you might want to run a fact check with someone who actually understands that topic to make sure you get it correct (though, as we know, fact checking to ensure things are correct isn't what they are known for).

The oldest one had gotten the task of writing and presenting three slides on the Korean War as part of a larger package where students in her course gave brief descriptions of different Cold War-topics.

*Something, something Black Friday*
Sunshine durations so far in December. Zero hours almost everywhere in Finland. No wonder if it's felt dark recently.

I’m just going to note this is probably neither the worst thing we’ve seen from a non-proliferation point of view nor from a Finnish mining point of view 😁
Considering the Finnish mining legislation lags behind Congo's and no Finnish government seems to be willing to rein in the mining giants, here's an idea.

Let's just allow the Canadian mining companies develop "mining" nukes in Finland. Then Canada too would have them.
@jmkorhonen.fi India developed civilian nukes for mining.

During WWI, then minister-of-munitions David Lloyd George looked at the BEF's estimates for machine guns (4 per battalion) and quipped, "square it, multiply that result by 2, and when you are in sight of that, double it again for good luck."

Which turned out to be the real final number.
there is also an awful lot of advantage if you have 3m 155m shells when you only needed 1.5m

Finally listened The Wargame podcast.

Very much recommended for MÖPs and #defence nerds.

ESPECIALLY important for discussions about independent #NB8 #nuclear #deterrent & #strategy. Just listen to how much real, veteran British politicians rely on it!

The EU discourse is perfect because there's something in it for everyone. First of all, the European Union genuinely does have a lot of problems. But more importantly, a lot of people hate it for largely unrelated and often contradictory reasons. It's a great enemy
