Definitely been a journey, but has been interesting and in a way quite heartening to see how many of the people I respected most a decade ago were immediately against this, and never stopped being against it, even despite many suffering very significant career damage from it

I know you already know, but for other folks who don't, Goldsmith was previously head of OLC, is a genuinely brilliant mind on executive authority and separation of powers, and is usually very cautious about making claims this unqualified and direct. That he is saying it so starkly is v significant

No, I 100% agree that computer RPGs these days have too much handholding. I, too, yearn for the days of being able to spend hours crafting my perfect build from hundreds of available options, only to discover that it mathematically cannot survive the mandatory rat fight portion of the first dungeon.
