"God" has become a MAGA euphemism for "me" He's not saving a deity that really exists in a cosmology, he's saving himself from having to know about Colin Kaepernick kneeling.

they invoke God as a stand-in for their ego. it's like, blasphemous even by my standards, and i'm a level 7 Reddit Atheist.

these people are so much more atheist than I am. The God they refer to does not exist in any capacity, even in their hearts and minds. They're barely even invoking it as a concept. It's just a declaratory statement about themselves, every single time.

exactly. even posting this I feel a little insensitive. but you just can't guard against every possible criminal act!

i appreciate, in the abstract, the idea of demanding perfection and hitting greatness, but both of these impulses seem to derail or prevent actual progressive improvements...
