Me too!
Me: “I’m going to finish my admin work, finish all my grading, and comment on three chapters!”

Last night during the weekly jazz hour at our local brewery, there were elderly folks dressed with Santa hats offering candy canes to everyone who arrived. Not employees - just patrons having a lark. Very wholesome

The most brutal way of telling someone they’re a few sandwiches short of a picnic that I’ve heard in French is t’es pas la truite la plus oxygénée de la rivière. It means “you’re not the most oxygenated trout in the river.”

Would love a link to a paper that’s a good example of that phenomenon. Fascinating

I’m so sad about the tragic deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner. His films are marvelous foundations of our lives and culture, and he was an important political activist.

RIP indeed

Slightly longer thoughts on the passing of Rob Reiner, and what a remarkable storyteller he turned out to be.

I read this year’s winner of the Booker prize, “Flesh”, all the way to the end so I can say with confidence that it’s a terrible book. I suffered so you don’t have to.

We did. Mice are cute outside.

Update: the mouse apparently did not survive the encounter. 🤢 ugh

It’s a snowy #Caturday. Vent cat is ready!

It’s getting cold, and our orange cat is clearly using the brain cell to protect us from potential mouse incursions

I just made plans to travel to a memorial service for two people who were like second parents to me growing up.

Our families drifted later in life, but I serendipitously saw them and caught up a year before they died. Am so grateful for that.

Don’t wait to connect with people.
