Oil is the most Lovecraftian thing that actually exists.

You're telling me that there's a black ichor under the earth made from the ancient dead, whose burning can realize all the dreams of man, but only at the price of slowly returning the earth to its primordial state?

Yikes, I stopped checking in with them around the time they decided to memorialize an extremely awkward appearance on one of Jesse Thorn's podcasts (Jordan, Jesse, Go!) with a strip depicting Thorn as a cannibalistic serial killer. www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2010/0...

It really seems like if you can lose $12bn at a single company and that company isn't a literal smoking crater in the ground, then we have to consider the possibility that the concept of money has crossed over into the realm of pure fiction, and use that to our advantage.
ICYMI: Microsoft’s charge “implies a more than $12 billion quarterly loss at OpenAI, said Firoz Valliji, an analyst at Bernstein.”

That “would mark one of the largest single-quarter losses for a tech company in history.”

Under new head of Paramount David Ellison, the studio has drawn up a list of actors who opposed the Gaza genocide and will not allow them to appear in its films and TV shows.

Does this sound familiar?

Also, "Ellison is reportedly aiming to take over Warner Bros. next."
Paramount Has Blacklist for Stars Deemed “Overtly Antisemitic” — World of Reel
It sure looks like the likes of Javier Bardem, Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, and Mark Ruffalo won’t be making movies for Paramount in the foreseeable future.

I am in disbelief, I just had the easiest, fastest blood drawing in my life

Almost every time I've had lab work done, the technicians struggled considerably, and I've long thought the problem was me (like, my veins are too hidden, arms too fat, etc)

But no the problem really was the PHLEBOTOMISTS

the fact that Sandwich Guy is facing this 'wich trial at all is evidence of subpar justice. he is a hero being put through the judicial grinder. i hope the jury wraps up a not guilty verdict without delay or loafing around

When Democrats act like Democrats, people vote for them. When Democrats act like Republicans, people figure they’ll vote for the real thing instead. If you run away from progressive issues, you convince voters they don’t matter, so why should they vote for you?

Twenty-four years ago, if you told people that the mayor of New York City in 2026 was going to be a Muslim man, a lot of people would have thought you were crazy.

Eric Adams is amazing because when he won every media person was leaping over each to go “this is the normal sane leadership that the political left doesn’t understand normal sane Americans crave” and then every day since that Eric Adams has been like “Leprechauns are real and I’m going to cook one”

As many have pointed out, Mamdani didn't stand apart from our trans brothers and sisters. He didn't play the "Gee, gosh, it sure is complicated," milquetoast moderate card. And he crushed.

The way forward is together, not over the bodies of our own.

This one. One of the many, many, many, reasons to loathe him and GWB is that someone like Tr*mp doesn't happen without the help of that previous admins erosion of rights & expansion of fascist executive power. And Cheney knew full well what he was doing.
So many people were detained extrajudicially, were tortured, or died because of Dick Cheney. You can't get to the danger we're in now without everything he did. The weapons he helped forge are ones we need to take away from U.S. presidents forever.
