Wow, hello everybody!

I woke up today to a LOT of new followers, so I thought I'd make a quick introductory post to let y'all know more about me.

Back on the 'other site' I mostly posted about urban issues, Magic: the Gathering, Roller Derby, equity, and - in the summer - baseball. 1/
I'm noticing that a big problem with going from pandemic solitude into being the parent of a baby/toddler is that I've lost so many in-person connections with friends.

And at this point, it just feels too awkward to suddenly be "Hey, lets do something!"

But man, it sucks.

🚍‼️ The new #TTC #RapidTO bus lanes on #Dufferin are great! Next, they should be:
-⬆️ extended north from Bloor to Eglinton
-🚌 paired w/ frequent & reliable service
-↔️ added to Finch, Lawrence, Jane & Steeles

Preeeeeetty sure it's all the cars causing congestion there, and not converting street parking into a bus corridor that's doing it.
Uh oh, Ontario transportation minister Prabmeet Sarkaria liked this IntegrityTO video blaming bus lanes for car congestion…

Goodbye house.

You were a good house, even if the past few years were awful in a way that wasn't your fault, but will taint memories nonetheless.

On to the next chapter.

One injury, one victim from Ford's "war on anything that isn't a car" is too many.

I fear that this is just going to be the first of a great many.

Why does our government care more about giant pieces of metal than of denizen safety?
Pedestrian struck by motorist on Parkside a block from the speed camera that vigilantes kept tearing down that caused ford to remove them from all Ontario. Drive as you wish Ontario. Nobody matters. This is what you voted for.

So the thing about the Cease signing (the timing, the amount, the deferrals, everything) is that it doesn't feel like a 'mission accomplished' signing. It feels like a warning shot to the rest of the league that we're here to play.

I'm excited to see what the next move is going to be, too.
Blue Jays ppl I follow have been saying that if they would just sign Vladdy long term, and win some games, then free agents would go there, and now it is happening, just as was prophesied

people always stereotype Canadians as being polite, and its not true at all. We are passive-agressive weirdos who live in isolated weird places and the sooner we make peace with that the better

I guess on the plus side, since ***GIANT SIGNS*** weren't going to work to reduce speeding anyhow, nothing much is lost.*

*Unless they decide to take those ridiculous trailer contraptions, and put them on the sidewalk rather than the road. Then pedestrian space will be lost.
NEW: Doug Ford promised giant signs to replace speed cameras in school zones. Well, they've arrived and... they're huge. So big they don't fit onto existing poles.

Cities say they're too big, the province says they were briefed weeks ago. #Onpoli

Cities say the signs sent to replace speed cameras are too big. The transportation minister believes they should be able to 'figure out how to install a sign.'

So here's the thing. Kelly and other Dems will talk now about how these are illegal orders and how the military shouldn't follow illegal orders.

But does anybody actually believe that, in a future Dem govt, those personnel will be prosecuted?

Because, from here, it just sounds like hot air.
SEN. KELLY : “They informed me of this in a tweet because this is not about the law. This is about the media cycle, and intimidation… We basically repeated the uniform code of military justice, and they're saying that's in violation of it. It's absurd. Comical.”

In today's installment of "Cars make people into psychopaths"...

"If a car stops to make sure they don't hit a pedestrian before turning right, and I hit them, that's their fault, right? It outta be illegal to look for pedestrians!"

There are a lot of things I disagree with Ford about, but I remain so glad that he joined (despite needing to be dragged kicking and screaming to the line) the national childcare subsidy programme.

Under $500/month and a teacher student ratio of better than 5:1 means that we can afford daycare.
yeah I think the really insane part about this is that absolutely you are paying $250-$300 per week per child but also somehow the childcare workers who have classrooms with ten or fifteen kids are also only getting paid $500 a week.
when i worked at a daycare in 2012 the parents were paying like $300 a week! i was making roughly $300 a week so i was like “maybe i should just be nanny and only have to take care of one child???” childcare stuff is basically where the parents and the workers are all unhappy, we should fix that!

Bad news: Now it's all of us.

Great romp of a saga.

Just realising that, in my head, I've been merging Roblox and Minecraft as one thing.

Probably because Minecraft is blocky, and Roblox has 'Blox' in its name?
