The multicolored tracksuits and martial-arts weapons definitely seem like a reference to Power Rangers, but we also see another group of characters in colorful onesies living in a post-apocalyptic/post-human setting earlier in the film.

I appreciate that @flophousepodcast.com's Senior Hedgehog Correspondent also made note of the prominently featured hog in this movie. boxd.it/bx2T6x

By coincidence, I'm currently participating in an annual Halloween horror challenge on Letterboxd ( #hooptober12, created by @cinemonster.bsky.social ) where I watched and reviewed five of my favorite zombie films.

Unlike a lot of the movies in this thread, Ben Wheatley's FREE FIRE is only a slim 90 minutes, but it could have absolutely benefitted from more impactful editing. The central gunfight has all of the tension and stakes of a teambuilding-retreat paintball match, and no sense of internal geography.

LLMs are only "introspective" in the same sense that this toy bird is "thirsty."

An inanimate object displaying an imitation of a living being's behavior is not the same thing as a living being engaging in it organically, and it's magical thinking to believe otherwise.

By the same token, if you're looking for something sorta like Goonies but with aliens, I also suggest Hooper's remake of Invaders from Mars. Having been through 11 years of Hooptobers at this point and consuming most of his filmography, I can say that Tobe Hooper absolutely contained multitudes.
