Three Subdue pendants done. They're long haul jobs but I'm enough of an Addams fan it was worth those six hours. The price will reflect the labor, alas. Around 70.

Tomorrow I work on "You Have No Power Over Me."

A woman in Saskatchewan needs surgery for a parathyroid issue and is being offered MAiD instead.

There’s no one in the province who can perform the procedure and the government won’t pay to send her elsewhere.

This is why disability advocates warn about assisted dying

No one should be offered death in lieu of treatment.

No one should be offered death when they’re asking for help.

It’s coercive even if they have the “right” to say no, because if no other treatments are offered they’re going to experience tremendous suffering.

tip on making the shingles vax experience more pleasant:
One quick note, the antihistamine protocol will not help most people with anything other than the COVID vaccine. For shingles, the preventative is to be INCREDIBLY super hydrated! Like, "peeing waterfalls" levels of hydrated.

I'm proud to be a board member of The Retrograde and I am deeply concerned about how UT Dallas is seeking to punish one of its editors for doing what any good editor does.

The best way I’ve seen to convince people to take a shingled vaccine is to let them see someone with shingles. Pretty much any level of non-life-threatening side effects including “take me to the hospital!” is worth it to avoid even a mild case

I honestly think antivax sentiment is the reason public health officials don't talk about prophylaxis more, because they think it will discourage people to acknowledge vaccines can make you feel kinda like crap for a while after. Of course the other way does, too :/

maybe spend some time commending vaccines online to your friends and neighbors. They need to hear from you. We are some of our own best communicators.

A coworker’s husband got a rash on his eyeball.

The BACK of his eyeball.

Do you know what it’s like to have a painful rash on the INSIDE of your skull?

Would you like to learn?

anyway. the vax side effects probably will be unpleasant!

but you don’t get to opt out of both vax and disease, so sack up and get it done.

“in my eye forever”
Happy to help. Just recovered from ocular shingles (yep, eye shingles) and it's fucking terrible.

Just get the fucking shot. This shit sucked and it sucked for at least a full month.

In my eye forever btw, and can't get the vax cuz my body just needs to chill with it as a part of my eye now.

yup that’ll work
Shingles on my scalp turned into a skin infection so painful I went to the ER and they did a CAT scan and showed me my whole head was swelling up to fight the infection. They gave me such powerful antibiotics my gut wasn’t right for six months.

Am I doing this right PMEP?

whyyy is it being left up to the patient community to do this? You cannot defeat antivax bias if you don't help people. This is on top of every public health department letting its pro vax posts get taken over with antivax comments & not moderating them. So dept of health digital teams are hurting

All over my FB people talking about their bad experiences with shingles vax and dissuading each other from getting it! We need to give people real info on how to mitigate the symtoms caused by vaccines because vaccines are always better than meeting a virus unprepared. Yet drs aren't coaching ppl
