2025 challenge for everyone (myself included):

- Have you read the entire thread before replying?
- Have you looked to see if other people have already replied with what you want to say?
- Are you thinking of "well, actually"-ing?
- Do you you and the person know each other well enough to say that?
Will be applying a new policy from here on out.

If you come into my mentions to tell me that [thing] isn't worth my attention or bringing it to the attention of others, I'm going to assume you're a bad actor and block you.

ESPECIALLY if you're an 8 follower account with primarily replies.
Hey everybody!

Tomorrow's the day for the Bluesky Hot Frosty watch!
#SexySnowman

I can't remember what time @charloh.online set for it... 6pm PST??

But let's do this! November 28! What else are you gonna do?

You don't have to explain or apologize for people who do bad things unless they're your closest family, your client, or standing directly behind you menacingly.

The part i dont understand about this article is where the author explains that Carney comes out of the deal getting everything he wants and Danielle Smith gets a pipeline that will never be built. I guess it was 4D chess the whole time
So far, Mark Carney has gotten two standing ovations and lost one cabinet minister as a result of his "grand bargain" with Alberta. The best, or worst, is almost certainly yet to come, @maxfawcett.bsky.social writes

The memorandum of understanding with Alberta might look like surrender. Look closer

Hello Alberta!

Did you know that 211 is a 24 hour sexual violence survivor support line?

You can call any time for help coping with the aftermath of, or getting out of gender-based violence or similarly dangerous situations.

Man.
But Pathways has been lying through their teeth.

If this ends up calling them on their many endless bluffs, good.
But FFS
The new Canada-Alberta MOU is a positive step for our energy future.

Meaningful investments in Pathways, clear measures to reduce emissions, and a stronger industrial carbon price give Albertans the certainty we need to move forward. /1

All colonies have this substructure of desperate social climbing and fractionating of proximity to blue blood; Australia & Canada are definitely not immune—from bowling greens to oligarchic boardrooms they're practically powered by a yearning to be aristocracy-better-than-you, hands unmarred by work
Sometimes I'll end up on the monarchism subreddit and it's fascinating

They'll have discussions like "which person do we think has enough noble blood left to rightfully be the king of America so we can throw off the communist degeneracy of democracy" or whatever

Carney jamming another pipeline through our beautiful province isn't just bad energy policy - it's bad health policy. Climate health is population health.

More fossil fuels mean more PM2.5, more heart disease, more lung disease, even dementia. Not to mention the excess deaths from extreme heat

Ugh.
My dark circles have dark circles and I have slept away so much of this day.

What is going on, body?!

The migraine is mild.
The dreams were entertaining but not bizarre enough to remember.

One of the stunning things about the MoU is the absence of a clear commitment by AB to scheduled increases in the price of carbon. Instead this:
The TIER system will ramp up to $130/tonne. When?
Issues to be addressed include "effective price and the price increases over time"
Gulp.

If you need a movie to watch this weekend, you could do much worse than Space Sweepers.

It's a superb Korean movie that really embraces the international nature of space and has a real fun with technology.
I don't usually like picking "favorites," but Space Sweepers is a movie I love SO much. Irreverent group of asshole idiots, lead by a Captain who reads as a lesbian, and including a trans robot, banding together with other low-lives to stick a middle finger into corpo faces.

National Observer goes full Everton.

(Like David Moyes, I actually like this. It's good to have rationale disagreements, and people who can disagree on tactics.)
Never been so mad to publish something.

While I have a ton of time for Max's analysis, I think this is overlooking one major fact: Carney didn't need Alberta's approval to bring in an industrial carbon price. So he traded a litany of climate policies for nothing he didn't already have.
Mark Carney managed to trade a pipeline that will never get built for meaningful progress on industrial carbon pricing and electricity interties — both of which will get more wind and solar built.

Remember when people thought he wasn't good at politics? www.nationalobserver.com/2025/11/27/o...

Everybody's grandmas having to pay hospital bills because they didn't renew their never-before-needing-to-be-renewed AB Health Card is going to destroy the UCP
November 28, 2025 at 2:29 AM
What.
The.
Fuck.

Would I like to have a new health card to replace my 25 year old one? Sure, yes.

But renewal??
I hope this kills the UCP.

As we feast…
It’s not just that prison meals are bland and unappetizing — though they often are.

In lawsuits and news reports, kitchen workers at prisons in Arizona, Oregon, and elsewhere reported seeing boxes of food that were served to prisoners marked: “not for human consumption.”
Prison Food Is a Growing Billion-Dollar Industry. Many Meals Are Inedible.
As private food providers' contracts grow, the meager and moldy portions behind bars have forced some people to eat toothpaste and toilet paper.

If Carney is willing to cut Alberta loose and concede everything, I doubt he's going to wade into all of Alberta's anti-trans laws. In fact, I'll bet it accelerates it.
