This is actually quite telling of how an institution like the "Free Press" conceives of its mission. There is no attempt to justify, on ideological or aesthetic grounds, why the world needs to hear from Woody Allen. It is just, "the lefties don't want us to publish Woody Allen, so we will."
joelhs.bsky.social
Of course the "Free Press" decided that this is the person the world needs to hear from right now.
"Free Press" headline: "Woody Allen Remembers Diane Keaton"

We have orgs other than political orgs on here and posting! This is great!

Sarah Jessica Parker, we don't understand why she's hot and yet she is pretty hot

i feel like the Riyadh Comedy Festival thing had way bigger political implications re:this than nobody is really talking about beyond making fun of self-identified free speech warriors for being there

yeah no shit Dave Chappelle is there, his new favorite movement is neck-deep in global auth ties

one thing that has been obvious for a while is this aspect of the authoritarian internationale: they recognize that their allies abroad are not *countries* but *political movements* within foreign countries.

time we liberals woke up and recognized this--because it's the truth.

Or maybe, just maybe, what was obvious in 2024 was correct: Netanyahu fully backed Trump and would not deal with Biden because Trump would give him a free hand to escalate the starvation, bombing, and do full ethnic cleansing. Which he then did, until Netanyahu embarrassed him by bombing Qatar.

Would it help to cut down the exercise to 5 or 6 days a week because rest days are healthy, or cut down the hour of exercise 7 days a week to a half hour 4 days a week and an hour 3 days a week, consistency is more important than the exact number of hours

I just need more Sinners content and I'm not going to get it so I have simply decided to head canon more content into the Sinners universe

Until we get an Abigail sequel than I'll probably have to stop this head canon
alexanotherone.bsky.social
My low key head cannon is that Abigail and Sinners are in the same universe
alexanotherone.bsky.social
My exception to my low gore tolerance is strictly vampire films, I don't really get why, but I am pretty sure I'm not alone in this

(I enjoyed Abigail, probably never going to see Bodies, Bodies, Bodies 🤷‍♀️)

Apparently Mia Goth has decided to pivot towards romance and away from horror and I'm glad about that because I like her a lot as an actress (I saw her in Emma) but the kind of horror that she enjoys starring in is just not the kind of horror that's my thing (I have a low gore tolerance)

National Institute of Standards and Technology
(NIST) are the people who regulate how and in what units things are measured, which is extremely important in a variety of fields including engineering and medicine, anyway, one of those foundation of civilization type organizations
alexanotherone.bsky.social
There's a rumor going around on /r/NIST that all of NIST was RIFed, anyway, no idea if this is true or not just remarking on the fact that we're at this wild place where it could be true but no one knows for sure because the Administration is so disorganized and corrupt

Freaking about No Kings is catastrophic for them! It’s a virtual certainty the protests will be enormous, and by turning them into a live issue, the GOP effectively gives news media permission to focus on them.

Both sites agree: nationwide anti-Trump protests are the most important story right now
williameasley.bsky.social
Complete own goal by the republicans. Not a ton of media attention for the first big protest day and now you have the republicans bringing it up and effectively telling the media to cover it

Old CBS would’ve probably spelled the guy’s name right, too.

CBS News would never put a thinly sourced 'story' by a rookie blogger like this on it's air. Until now. The Free Press isn't a journalism outlet, it's bloggers aren't reporters. This piece is more NYPost than Tiffany Network but I guess that's the goal.

Some NYPD officers worry about Mandani becoming the NYC mayor, The Free Press reports
The Free Press spoke to several New York City Police Department officers who are worried about Zohran Mamdani becoming mayor. Olivia Reingold joins CBS News with more.

Honestly, the other place I've seen this recently has been in the Mamdani derangement syndrome where people need to prove Mamdani has some positive or negative characteristic and so find one small fact that is literally correct which makes this characteristic true
alexanotherone.bsky.social
One of the things that generally has been fascinating about the current political moment is how many people would rather be literally correct about a small inconsequential piece of information than do the work of living in an accepting multicultural society
alexanotherone.bsky.social
The effort to be as literal as possible to deny antisemitism could exist is fascinating if it weren't for the fact that real people's lives are being threatened by antisemitism

(The gumbo post couldn't possibly be antisemitic because gumbo contains shellfish so obviously Jews would never eat it.)
Alright, so, I hate AIPAC, as you all know, and yet this is one of the more vile antisemitic things you'll see from a US member of Congress. In case you need help interpreting, "I'll never take 30 shekels" means "The Jews can't buy me like they bought Judas in order to kill Jesus"

[MTG Twitter post says "I'll never take 30 sheckels" in reference to an AIPAC post] There is only a single reference in the New Testament regarding the amount Judas was paid. Matthew 26:15 "thirty pieces of silver"

Nowhere is this translated as shekels

Establishment American Jewish organizations like the ADL and AJC spent weeks denouncing Rep. Ilhan Omar for her "All about the benjamins" tweet about AIPAC.

Neither the ADL nor AJC have said anything about Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene responding to AIPAC with, "I'll never take 30 shekels."
Tweet from Marjorie Taylor Greene: “No bar codes on me.
I’ll never take 30 shekels.
I’m America only!🇺🇸
And Christ is King!”
