Here’s where it gets personal for me. When I was 9, I started experiencing suicidal ideation … disinterested in living, and at least some of the time contemplating death and how it might happen … It’s easy to imagine how I would have used programs like these chatbots.

I had a nightmare so bad a few nights ago so Lovecraftian and demon themed, violent and gory, that I’m still a bit shaken. Part of me just wants to forget it but of course there’s a little part of my brain whispering ”this would make an excellent horror novel”

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you have friends struggling through the shutdown, consider inviting them over for a family dinner this week. Make too much. Insist they take leftovers home. Some folks can't say they need help out loud but will appreciate the kindness.

Autocorrecting is now mad at me and so when I tap the suggested words I just get an electronic ”nu-uh” by way of the phone just posting the letters as far as I got before the suggestion. Technology CAN get offended if you swear enough at it.
