The numbers in here are hilarious.

Do you use AI on the job?
Execs: 87%
Managers: 57%
Workers: 27%

Planned investment by 2030: $5T
"Necessary" annual revenue to justify that spend: $650B
Current annual revenue: $50B
Three years into the generative-AI wave, demand for the technology seems surprisingly flimsy
Investors expect AI use to soar. That’s not happening
Recent surveys point to flatlining business adoption

I never thought that the novel Death Sentences--in which a piece of surrealist poetry causes death and destruction to all who read it--would be an example of sci-fi predicting the future, but here we are

Oh no!!!

Woodrell was one of the best to ever do it. If you haven’t read WINTER’S BONE, do yourself a favour. It’s pretty much a perfect book.
Gutted to hear about the death of Daniel Woodrell, one of *the* all-time great noir writers. WINTER’S BONE, TOMATO RED, and so many more — but also, not nearly enough — books.

The New Deal wasn’t built on a promise that there would be “no ceiling” for the richest Americans.

Quite the opposite, in fact. FDR knew its politics could only work if he singled out the rich as villains and knew that its policies could only work if the rich paid their fair share in taxes.

Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.
