Op-ed: New College of #Florida has become a colossal money pit snared in a breathtaking series of cascading scandals, all of which hinge on physical or sexual violence, real or implied. www.sun-sentinel.com/2026/01/18/t... via @sun-sentinel.com

Dr. King repeatedly reminded us that the inaction of good people was the greatest threat to the pursuit of justice.

Today, in the face of a lawless and tyrannical president, inaction isn't an option. We must continue to stand up, speak up, & fight back.

very difficult to believe that this isn’t calculated to provoke an uprising, but I’ll concede the possibility that they’re just stupid assholes
This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

A special MLK day share of my piece about how MAGA was born from racial resentment. www.ms.now/opinion/trum...
Opinion | Trump took the tea party’s racial resentment and made it MAGA
Philip Bump: President Trump said the civil rights movement led to white people being “very badly treated.” It is impossible to overstate how important this idea is to his politics.

Not headline news. No real fuss by Democratic leaders. No calls to censure. No pushback. No questions asked of GOP leadership by the press.

Just totally accepted anti-Muslim bigotry across the board.

In December, I traveled to Montgomery to visit the Legacy Museum, which traces the story of Black America from slavery to Jim Crow to mass incarceration. I wanted to understand how the museum & its affiliated sites were operating in a moment where so much of the history they present is under attack.

I’m the one in the brown hat.

What you might not see is the victim in the car. His feet are pointing out the open car door. An agent is sitting on one of his legs. He’s only wearing crocs.

Bystanders found his legal work visa in his abandoned car.

“Illegal alien” will in retrospect be understood as the dehumanizing language that preceded ethnic cleaning. A disgusting thing to call someone but completely normal among our political elite.
Victor Manuel Diaz was kidnapped from Minneapolis. He was my neighbor and he died in an American concentration camp. He was not "illegal," he was a human being made in the image of the divine. May his memory be a blessing, and may the rest of us fight like hell until we stop this brutality.
This is the sixth death in ICE custody in 18 days. This isn’t enforcement, it’s a system that cages people, outsources care, and shrugs when they die. Abolish ICE.

"chuck schumer invited a foreign adversary to give a stump speech against a president of his own party" is indisputably true
apparently denmark is not one of the countries where your own party will invite their leader to give a speech in the senate about how the sitting president is a piece of shit and he ought to be removed from power
if we do not push Chuck Schumer out of power, he will not just meekly submit to the right until they put him in the camps, he will blow up NATO as well

As usual, the demand is for Democrats to do what they're already doing. Social security and food stamp fraud are vanishingly rare. Minnesota is stepping up enforcement.

None of these safeguards have stopped Republicans from lying about fraud. Why would even more make a difference?

I think Democrats are reluctant to say that welfare fraud is a significant problem because welfare fraud is not a significant problem.

Do Republicans have any obligation to stop constantly lying about this?
