Update for quiltsky: here’s the skull quilt with the double border (3/4 inch black border, 1/4 inch multicolor). I will hand stitch the binding to the back this week. I can’t wait to show you the back!

Is it @startribune.com policy to refer to anyone confronting ICE as a protester? This obscures the nature of what people are doing. We're not protesting ICE. We're constitutional observers documenting human rights abuses by agents of the state.

Long-term Philadelphians: Hurricane Swartz just popped up on my clock app feed. He's talking about the storm, explaining how to determine the sources of weather misinfo, and telling us how to understand the information we're getting. He's teaching media literacy. Bless him.

SO GIVE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS THAT PEOPLE ARE POINTING OUT.

This is the shittiest timeline with a bunch of doofuses leading by saying “just trust me.”
Jensen Huang of Nvidia, $NVDA, has said relentless negativity around AI is hurting society and has done a lot of damage, per Techspot.

Just put my kid on a flight to St. Paul.

Checked she had her travel stuff:

* Water bottle
* Travel pillow
* Hidden airtag in case feds steal her phone so I can find her
* Charm bracelet I made w/my tel # so that she can throw it to someone in case she is getting grabbed by ICE

So, the 2026 basics

Governments don’t need to ban social media when they already have compulsory attendance of children for almost 10 years to provide skills, knowledge and shared experiences.

Universal schooling was reaction to last information crisis of printing. We have an infrastructure to adapt like Finland.

Hakeem Jeffries is the House Democratic Follower. You can't name a single policy issue in the last year he's actually led on.

When forming a position, he follows polls, public sentiment and his own caucus members. But he never, ever gets out front to persuade or lead.
Scoop: House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries opposes bill funding DHS and ICE
Democrats are lining up against the bill.

Reminder that the people who said their guns were for fighting tyranny went and joined the tyranny.

Guess they really just wanted to be able to shoot them at people without getting arrested.

People who produce AI slop papers love to skip the boring research and get right to the dramatic discovery. The LLMs tell them their idea is awesome and original, and write it up as a "proposed framework" (with no data or evidence). That term increased 70% in Web of Science abstracts last year.

Americans, seeing fascism, will call it literally anything else: communism, anarchism, Maoism, Stalinism, etc.

Like their eyes just glaze right past it, it doesn't process.

And even if they do actually notice the fascism, they don't notice its basis in centuries of domestic homegrown tradition.

Tradwife culture is damaging because it is disguised as empowerment while limiting women’s options. It’s portrayed as a women’s place. No one should ever choose a place in life where, when their circumstances change, their life falls apart. depauliaonline.com/81536/opinio...
Why are women choosing to be tradwives?
A resurgence in traditional gender roles has led to the rise of social influencers showcasing this lifestyle.

It may not be helpful, but I want us all to remember every single person who smugly said "using the word fascism is overheated rhetoric" or anything remotely of the sort. We are, and were not, crazy for seeing it.

They had the audacity to claim Bluesky didn't have the juice, but not since peak Twitter have I logged off for an evening and come back to my entire feed speaking in a new language of rapid-fire in-jokes that I have to reverse-engineer to figure out what's happening. That, my friends, is The Juice.
Two big guys walked up front and started yelling at the pilot and the pilot screamed that they weren't going to Davos, they were going to Vienna, Virginia and that he had to get home to his family.

I’m becoming socially conservative in that I’m becoming a real tightass about civic virtue & honor. Fuck your boyfriend & his husband wearing dogsuits in private if you want, I don’t care at all, but I’m becoming pretty humorless about people feeling they have no obligation to any civic project

Vaguely recall Republicans absolutely losing their shit over the (misleading to false) claim that the IRS in the Obama era targeted conservative non-profits for audits based on their ideology.

I'm sure every one of those people is speaking out in support of Mischief Toy Store or...?
Mischief Toy Store in St. Paul has until Wednesday to turn over employment records to the Department of Homeland Security as part of a surprise audit launched Friday, just hours after one of the shop's owners criticized ICE agents during a television interview. bit.ly/4r5AFol
