You can safely assume that my position in just about any circumstance is "age verification mandates to access speech in any guise are unconstitutional and overburden the protected speech of adults, including the rights to anonymity and privacy"

A very good development. SOOO many people get scammed by these guys. Nice to see some sort of progress being made.

6/ To put it another way, we should be on offense, not defense. We need to go where outbreaks start, not wait until they reach our borders. That’s the power of the CDC’s global work. And that's also what’s at risk right now.

5/ Almost every U.S. case of MDR-TB starts overseas, so stopping it abroad helps protect us here at home. And that's true for every disease.

People travel, and unfortunately, so does disease. So cutting these programs isn’t just shortsighted, it’s actually a threat to our national security.

1 year ago, I published the book that brought me through grief & my cancer journey.

THE NIGHTWARD is a mashup of science, West Indian culture & mythologies, the fantasy books I grew up with & more.

Thank you to everyone who bought, read & recommended it. 1/4

Nothing like finding a typo in a book that just had 20,000+ downloads...

#self-publishing #writerlife

Fortunately, it was an easy fix. And hopefully most readers will skip right past it. (I have a theory that readers really only pay attention to typos when they're not liking the book.)

Quiet Moment of the Day:

Some days are rougher than others. You get tossed to and fro. You hit a lot of bumps. You wonder if you should keep going...

... keep going. Good things are coming your way.

I'm enjoying the new T.S. album, but since she doesn't need my promo, here's another recent song I've liked:
Priscilla Block: You're Breaking My Heart (Cecilia)

Esp. the line about Jolene-ing again. Haha.

At this stage, anyone using the regurgitron to generate their synopsis or their ideas, still less their text, is knowingly collaborating with copyright thieves, and if they are tradpub, knowingly breaking the contract clause that agrees it's all their own work. Dishonest people gonna dishonest.

I'm bringing this up because if you're newer to this game than I am and thinking, "Is it just me, or is this kind of miserable?" . . .

. . . yeah. It's kind of miserable. If I didn't enjoy writing short fiction as much as I do, I think I would have given up by now.

The news about lead in pea protein makes me wonder if the cause of the increased heart disease in “grain free formula” dog foods (which rely on pea protein) is lead related.

My local library even has a seed library— you take seeds out, and bring seeds back from what you grow!

That’s also a super handy thing in developing seeds that can stand up to local climate change!

So, gardeners, go ask your library if they have one or could start one! 🌱

Often when I talk to people who haven't stepped into a library for a long time, they think library = books. And yeah, library = books. I love books. But we also have ebooks, for free! DVDs, Blu-ray, streaming video, audiobooks, eaudiobooks, online classes, we've got it all.

Galleys are in! This spine design is A+.
Galleys of my next book, "True Color." You can see the front cover (a tan field with 12 multicolored...tabs? Cards? Books? Hard to tell!) and one book up on end so you can see its spine. The spine has six colored lines separating my name and the title, and I love it.

Read what you want to read and don't worry about what you "should" read. Your time is finite, books are awesome and there millions more than you can possibly read in a lifetime, there is no reason to self inflict literary suffering.
