Every time a Democrat gets caught on tape saying like “Some Trump voters are racist” we have a national scandal and JD Vance demands an entirely new kind of apology and meanwhile every Republican group chat is like “Good morning fellow SS members. Who’s ready to respect Hitler today?”

everyone on here seems to think that there's just one feature you can add or remove from social media to make people not go insane on here. this belief, i think, is itself a form of madness

Long story short, an actual Nazi doxxing ring. Enough people reported them that they went away for like 12 hours and then Elon personally brought them back. The site is dead. If you’re still on there, go lock your account right now

I know the whole “every accusation is a confession” thing but it’s pretty clear this is the most elitist government that’s existed in decades. It’s just 12 billionaires in a group chat sharing banned Reddit memes

NEW — I dug into the story of ICE abducting a 13-year-old boy in Massachusetts and moving him 500 miles across state lines without notifying his mother, local cop's complicity, and how the federal government's justification for such cruelty is already falling apart:
ICE took a 13-year-old they said had a gun. Local cops say he didn’t.
Now he's detained 500 miles away from his Massachusetts home.

it's pretty straightforward: in order for society to improve, billionaires will have to have less money. they don't want that, so they are rooting on the end of civilization instead. they don't have special knowledge, they just think it sounds cool to live as a king in the wasteland

"I once met a former bodyguard of one billionaire with his own "bunker", who told me his security team's first priority, if this really did happen, would be to eliminate said boss and get in the bunker themselves. And he didn't seem to be joking."
Tech billionaires seem to be doom prepping. Should we be worried?
The debate is ramping up about what happens if - or when - computer intelligence overtakes humans

Vought has blocked CFPB staff from doing their work, and is also charging CFPB $5 million for his bodyguards. So technically, they are protecting one consumer.

I feel like the legal profession has basically forgotten that one of their core tasks is to prevent situations like this from ending up with the guy being torn limb from limb

of course, through the majesty of the law, alex jones has effectively stalled long enough to win anyway. the families who he tortured will end up with a small pile of ashes labeled "Infowars Inc" while Alex keeps doing his thing as Alex Jones Broadcasting, having had plenty of time to shift themoney

Windows 10 goes out of support today. My fave useless fact about w10 is that the iconic blue desktop background is a *photograph* - not CGI.

Tiny 'making of' vid here - youtu.be/_2RacX9DgWM...
Three images showing photographers in a studio, standing around a black curtained area with a projector and a 'Windows' logo etched onto a glass pane. The lower image shows a version of the iconic blue windows background, with blue lasers outlining and passing through an angled Windows logos against a dark background.

I have a half formed thought that one of the reasons everything is so awful right now is specifically because the internet and tech are at the root of so much of it, and the thing that was meant to create the future has actually given us the six fingered cyberpunk version of the 1930s.

in hindsight it makes sense to see cancel culture as a harbinger of the end of shame rather than an excess of it. "shame" presupposes stable social norms and a sense of what one did wrong and how it could have been avoided. not suddenly a thunderbolt from zeus thrown at random people
