Due to the government shutdown food insecurity is going to rise. Here are food resources in Hennepin and Ramsey counties. Please donate to your local food shelf if you are able and please spread the word!

What a weirdly cruel thing to do. Target employees have the whole weekend to stew, then work from home to start the week and wait to find out Tuesday if they’re getting cut. There had to be a thousand better ways to handle this.

In an unanimous decision, the Minnesota Supreme Court has powerfully affirmed that trans athletes have the right to compete without discrimination & every Minnesotan deserves access to equal opportunities to thrive and belong.

The government has been shut down for three weeks and Sen. Klobuchar thought, “you know what? Now seems like a good time to help the Republicans put more of their people on the federal bench.”
By a vote of 66-32, the #Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Harold D. Mooty III to be US District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama.
I reported this sign problem to Metro Transit last Wednesday over lunch. They told me today that they've sent it to the tech team. Not urgent, of course, but 3 days is a long time to address. Walked over to see if anything had changed, and now there's a sticker on the screen. #MSPTransitExperience
When does Whamageddon start? Doesn't feel fair to lose already. Then again, why is "Last Christmas" playing in a store on *October 19*?

positive outcome: a lot of people who were there, better understanding that the news is made of choices
You can count The Minnesota Star Tribune among the Sunday newspapers that did not put protest news on the front page
The Star Tribune building is 3 blocks from the park where the Minneapolis march started. And for a newspaper that now considers itself statewide, there were more than 70 events scheduled outside of the Twin Cities, throughout Minnesota.
100,000-150,000 people march through downtown Minneapolis but it doesn’t make the front page if the Star Tribune. Instead, the top left story is “Ooo e-bikes dangerous.” How many head injuries from car/pedestrian, car/bike and car/car crashes are a year? Do they get top billing?
Lots of great signs in Minneapolis today! I chuckled at the use of lefse in this message.

My 3 bus is standing room only. Could have used an articulated bus like is often on this route, but I assume all of those are already in service.
This is excellent alt text. Names her, explains why there's an empty speech bubble, describes the pop culture for anyone who doesn't know what she was saying in this movie.

9.5/10. Only downgraded for typo of "clique," which took me a second to recognize.

(Open to see whose words she's speaking.)
It was later in the season than I was thinking (I was looking in July), so I phoned a friend 😊 #SwannyStat remembers everything about the Lynx!
It was August 28 against Seattle.
My first transit leg of the day was a bus with a broken card reader and a (minor) stain on the seat next to mine. My final leg of the day was the same bus with the broken card reader and stain. Different driver, though. #MSPTransitExperience

I dunno, feels like reaching the “hiding your neighbors from the masked secret police” stage of things in like 9 months doesn’t bode well for the next couple of years.

My bus showed up with a broken lift, so a rider in a wheelchair couldn't board. This bus only runs every 30 minutes but the driver said another would be along in 10 minutes. Not only was that not true, the next scheduled bus was 12 minutes late. #MSPTransitExperience #a11y

There needs to be a better word than "detained" here
Is there some sort of effort to systematically track all of the cases of US citizens who have detained by ICE?
My husband was detained by ICE today

Juan Muñoz, an American citizen, father of 2, and local government official, was peacefully protesting w. other elected officials. He was assaulted and taken away

I have had zero contact or updates since
