It was cute for a second but it’s getting a little gross that ESPN and the WNBA are spending more time talking about Bam than A’ja since the Aces won a championship and A’ja got her finals mvp. You are failing the Bechdel Test horribly.

It’s SEO. The prevalence of this stuff within WBB journalism is an harbinger of a dark possible future of journalism where online metrics displace actual depth of coverage. These articles aren’t optimised for readers - they’re optimised for automated advertising systems. #wnba

Is there some sort of law that says no article about the #WNBA can be permitted to be written, unless it also mentions Caitlin Clark?

She's not even their best player (that's Kelsey Mitchell), and the Fever were better w/out CC this year.
Regardless, these Game 1 ratings speak volumes that the league's boom in popularity extends beyond Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark. While Clark has been a massive catalyst and brought a ton of eyeballs to the game, these ratings would suggest that those eyeballs have also become interested in other teams and players aside from Clark and the Fever.

Looked this up inspired by @shameka23.bsky.social and Nate Tibbetts takes home 200,000 more than Becky Hammon but only won one game against her all season. #wnba

Apparently it went up to $8300 but yeah. And the tax man will take 1/3 of it so essentially it’s $5000 for getting beaten up while the referees watch. #wnba

Did I read this correct? Phoenix get $7000 per player for finishing 2nd? The Aces each get $23000 for their championship win! But when I researched the NBA...each man gets $800000 for the championship? #unfairwages #WNBA

The Lynx had the best offensive and defensive ratings through the regular season. You could argue that they peaked too early and had nothing left in the tank for the post season. But you cannot argue that they didn’t deserve awards for the regular season they put together. #wnba

Yes. Tibbets was also outcoached every game. He underutilised Kalani Brown who we saw last night was actually great at slowing A’ja and Nalyssa down. They are also too many streaky players in the team - Whitcomb and Sabally are great when they’re on but you don’t know which version you’ll get.

Cathy literally went on television and told us that the awful racial abuse that Angel Reese, A’ja Wilson, Dijonai Carrington and Diamond Deshields were receiving last year was part of growing the game. She is the one who forced fans to have to speak up for the players. #wnba

They were probably worried about not getting picked up at all next season. Both had two very underwhelming seasons in a row.

Oh and Dom. Absolutely yes to Dom. I don’t watch college ball so I’m not as familiar with Cam’s game as I’ve not really seen her play. She was still adapting most of this season I think.

Perhaps the only names I’d add to the list are Rhyne Howard and Saniya Rivers who are extremely versatile forwards and are as good defenders as they are on offense. Maybe Gabby Williams. #wnba

The only players currently in the league who have a hope of catching up with A’ja long term are Angel Reese and Kiki Iriafen. The size disparity between guards and forwards in the W makes it hard for a guard to have a similar impact on the game, and they are the most agile young bigs. #wnba
