#nerd-snipe
I'm on day 3 of this nerd snipe thanks to my brother. I think I can have it done before my vacation is over next week.

"We have always been at war with Austrasia" was the tagline of a very non-Bluesky nerd snipe.

we also ended up going over time a bit, in part because my tutor mentioned 流行語 (buzzwords) and i told her about @scriptingjapan.bsky.social which turned out to be a bit of a nerd snipe

Yeah, the newer generations of 3d printers are so mindbendingly well tuned to work out of the box.

I think publishing sufficient info to nerd snipe some folks into helping you model things out in CAD might work. There are subreddits that might help like for example www.reddit.com/r/3Dprintmyt...
Print things for others or get something printed!
Help each other out! This subreddit is for people with printers who are willing to 3D print stuff out for others and send it to them, and for people who can't get a hold of a printer and want somethin...

Tonight's nerd snipe is a somewhat deep dive into Media Transfer Protocol (MTP). TLDR it's an ecosystem packed full of bugs and weird behaviours and I'm not surprised (but still annoyed) that Apple hasn't bothered implementing it.

Potential #mechanics nerd-snipe:

It seems that nobody on the Web has taken a deep approach to answering the eminently important question(s) of:

Are ruined buildings leaning against each other as commonly depicted in post-apocalyptic fiction structurally feasible? Under which construction […]

Speaking broadly, ai-friendly or ai-tolerant folks are curious as hell. You can nerd-snipe them

It'll be a nerd snipe race to show, not tell it seems.

Sorry, but lots of people will take your brain's side in this.

Attempted nerd-snipe:
Has your brain wondered about old kaiju being genetically re-engineered to fight in space? Hmmmm… Well, you'd have to re-engineer their ecosystem as well. And how would you lift that much? Who's the enemy?

It even called out the "Nerd Snipe"

Oh damn, like not even using D3 or anything - very impressive! Might've just found a new nerd-snipe for myself 😅

This visual managed to Nerd Snipe me for the stupidest reason: it made me go back and read some action sequences I wrote for comparison, and I got sucked into the scene so badly I forgot why I was reading in the first place. 😵‍💫
(Conclusion: not bad, but some details feel awkwardly shoe-horned in)

my hope with posting those notes is that i would nerd snipe someone by giving them just enough of a way in to convince them to finish the job for me. but all i've got is anonymous asks on my tumblr account asking if i'd made it any further
i should also finish the fucking job of making a linux port for the google wifi 5 nest h2d/'mistral' router because i already did the annoying drudgery of tracking down the device tree in google's clusterfuck repos and writing those notes like 3+ years ago lol

Maybe I can nerd snipe @jm-mcgrath.bsky.social. Do you know if there's a specific policy/regulatory context for the dearth of washrooms in the Ontario public transit experience?

Just in case: to nerd snipe—to offer a tasty looking problem to someone with relevant expertise in the hopes they will look at said problem and go, ‘NOM NOM NOM!!! Tasty problem!!!’ And um, you know, work on it with you. For fun.

Anyway turns out my "try to make money from pinout.xyz in an effort to nerd snipe myself into having the energy to improve it" strategy worked quite well.

That said some of my deeper accessibility improvements (which I use on the Pico pinouts) have not made it over yet.

If you can calculate two frames ahead, I'd try: if f0==f2, f1=f0. I.e. don't allow single frame changes.

But that's a little complicated by the scrolling, and you might have to ignore the filter on the edge that's coming into view.

I'm trying not to nerd-snipe myself on this 😀

Eep, I accidentally did a "well, actually..." nerd snipe, that turned into many threads. Sorry folks, you just happened to hit upon my job across multiple industries. 🙃

Fun conversations, but I can get into the weeds quite easily.

(Mostly distributed systems across ~6 industries.)

"should we privatize the usps" is a great question for proactively identifying cranks. its an irresistible nerd snipe for a certain type of insufferable person

I need to sleep, please don't nerd-snipe me into writing either a post-Trumpist, post-Third Reconstruction US constitution or a post-cuck, post-Putinist EU one. (Latter exercise is more gradualist - the borders of the member states should stay intact, for one.)
they're going to: but not only that - they started work on the post-independence constitution:

"The Nerd Snipe is a bird rarely seen in these parts. It arrives precisely when it means to, not caring about such trivial details suchs as early dinners or good manners. An angry bird, you might even say."
