Despite working with WS2812 LEDs for something like 10 years (when did we do Unicorn HAT again?) their quiescent current draw is not something I've ever thought about. It might be quite high in a keyboard, with as much as 50mA *just* to keep those smart LED drivers powered up.

WobKey's Rainy75 wins today. I went to inject a WS2812-compatible signal to hijack the LED backlighting, and found that it cuts power to the LEDs when they are turned off. This, no doubt, has a huge amount to do with why I can shove it in my desk, powered on, and it'll still work a week later.

Can confirm- wasted entirely too much time trying to solve for this in Python by basically transcribing the datasets into a sort of DSL. IIRC Google also had some kind of device description language in the works at the time too.
