Long ago in the pre-sideshave days, @laurenshippen.com & I met on a fun D&D webseries. Lauren went on to create thrilling, heartfelt (queer!) stories in podcast, novels, & self-produced indie art I fell in love with.
Now we’re reunited! I’m proud to be Cal in Phantom Pulse. Please check it out! 🎸🖤

Most of my shows in November/december are self produced or produced with me friends and that’s kinda scary in an exciting way :3

a small shred of me dies every time some clever or inspirational self-expression is immediately repackaged as a "trend"
it turns something that would in any other circumstance evolve into something transformative from everyone's unique lens into a mass-produced replica that I've seen 4,000 times.

Tony Brevett was one third of the harmony trio The Melodians who recorded multiple hits from You Have Caught Me to Rivers Of Babylon.
In the early 70s he started recording solo like with this beautiful self-produced tune...

Adding that NO billionaire is self-made. He benefits from infrastructure, the peace and stability derived from NATO, from brilliant scientists produced by US universities — all subsidized by taxpayers — US. And he doesn’t feel the need to pay his fair share of taxes. He is a thief.

It is your job as a self-publishing writer to inhabit every stage of a well-produced book. This starts with RESTING your draft for weeks or months after you finish writing it. Then after resting you do your FIRST of many editing passes. The first is developmental.

Beatrice Orchard Carter (1889-1939) was a South African botanical illustrator.
She produced ophthalmic drawings for an oculist, D. J. Wood.
She was appointed as an artist at the Bolus Herbarium in Cape Town in 1926.
Her early death left unfinished much of the artwork she had begun.

That's the idea of standardising it and having AI do it. It lowers the cost, not increases. When you standardise it becomes a single product mass produced lowering cost. If it's FIFA controlled it self learns from all the games past, present, and future everywhere. Look at hawkeye in tennis.

On this day in 1973, John Lennon released 'Mind Games.' His first self-produced album, blending peace, reflection, and that unmistakable Lennon charm — proof that even inner battles can sound beautiful.

Just love @jessedamiani.bsky.social’s pithy, deeply humble style:
“(Bryan Johnson is) a mirror of the system that produced him—a world that demands endless growth, endless self-optimization, endless extraction...the capitalist death drive disguised as vitality.”

"Don't Die"? What Bryan Johnson Gets Wrong
Bryan Johnson wants to live forever, but that kind of thinking is why life on Earth is at risk of extinction. Here's my humble proposal for the type of "don't die" we should consider instead.

What it'd cost for Europe to be self-sufficient in solar panels: +~20% to the cost of panels if produced from Chinese cells; +50% for European cells, +75% for European ingots and wafers. BUT even the last option is just +15-20% to the cost of utility-scale & +5% for residential.

Helpful to have a self-produced list of which Rabbis are total fucking racists
it's wild to me that we have a letter from 850+ rabbis denouncing zohran mamdani for things he never said and positions he never took while no such letter has been written condemning stephen miller for claiming to "defend jewish values" while being an utter fucking nazi and dismantling our democracy
it’s funny how the attacks levied last night against zohran mamdani by andrew cuomo more accurately describe stephen miller — totally inexperienced, deeply ideological, surrounded by antisemites, speaks like he’s talking exclusively to the internet, will bring about a policy nightmare, etc.

(2/2) I highly suggest that you check some of my new work under my new name. It's all entirely self-produced, and self mixed.. as opposed to what I did prior. I never gave up on music, I thought I would, but it's in my blood. I could never.

Periodic reminder that the only worthy successor to all the good bits of Marx is the Bureau of Economic Analysis' "Concepts and Methods of the U.S. National Income and Product Accounts" and not anything produced by self-identified Marxists.
i think it's funny that there's a dynamic where people use marx to argue that luxury consumer goods undergoing labour-price driven inflation is bad
I'm beginning to think you should need special permission to read Marx, like a test that measures how tedious you'll be after you do

This week I went to the optometrist, got my biyearly* mammogram, and produced a poop sample for the “your colon was good at the last colonoscopy so this time we’re checking out your shit instead” test.
Please clap. This is the most physical self-care I’ve done in a very long time!

#MusicChallenge 30 years of Onyx "All We Got Iz Us." 2nd ever listen to their 2nd album? Dark and bleak, but of course still hype. Mostly self-produced, so the beats are well-suited for the occasion. Colors are muted, but soul elements keep things more lively. Love the unhinged soul here:

Tesla used to promise "all Tesla cars now have Full Self-Driving Hardware," but in the face of new lawsuits, that language has changed.
