Today is a lap-swim day for me. It's a bit chilly here and that always makes going to swim feel a bit weird. My favored pool is warm and friendly so I get in the water anyway and then forget it's chilly outside.

Writing story is a type of brain infection. Words penetrate the minds of readers and subtly change things. Reading is an expansive process. However, not all reading materials are equal. Garbage in, garbage out.

When you write, push yourself to display whats real.

What a writer writes is comparative to describing their DNA. Each word in its arrangement within story is unique to one mind - the writer. As a whole (the whole of your work) you can be uniquely identified and in explication your consciousness understood. You speak.

Tell your imposter syndrome you don't believe in them.

Describe the life experience you want.

Writing doesn't mean 'good writing' or productive writing, it is the physical act of wandering words on paper or screen. I am writing this post. Is it strongly important? Nope. But it is writing. I'm communicating with the void and each of you is in the void as I am to you.

The human lifespan inside their flesh sack is very short. Few reach a hundred years. Many don't reach fifty. If you are looking for motivation to write it is rapidly approaching death.

All your complaints about motivation and muse are time wasters. Just write!

Flavor your logo with suggestions of your favored genre.

If you write Westerns then think Western in your logo design. You want people to associate you with your genre, it will help them remember you.

I will have a logo and my name at both vending opportunities.

Remember, you are building brand recognition as well as selling for financial help.

Think about your name as a logo to help with your branding. Talk to friends and family to ask them for help and look for consensus approval from a wider group. It isn't permanent.

You should be running market listings of a dual nature and using spread sheets or similar.

Unfinished are in their own file.

Keeping up with the business of your business is important.

People who have followed me for a hot minute know I go old school with sending paper manuscripts for registration even though it costs me more. Anything I can do to make the AI scraper thieves have a harder time, I will. DOGE got into the LOC this year. We know thieves.

This tracks when I sent the application for copyright to the Library of Congress. Note that it takes MONTHS to receive your official registration in paper right now. Be ready.

What you want is to be kind to your future self.

Make your work easy to find for yourself. Move a copy of your entire writing files to a large storage hard drive automatically or manually on say the 1st of each month. Reduce your writing stress.

* Works in Progress (novels)
* Finished Novels

* Works in Progress (shorts/poems)
* Finished Shorts/Poems

Within these larger files I have the file of each named piece. The most recent or finished is clear.

My only 'business' today is depositing a check in a bank. A short drive and a minute or two at the outdoor drive up ATM and voila - on to the next thing.

Mostly, I try to stay home on non-swim days. It is safer and cheaper. I can live with the inside of my head.

In my gaps, between one project and the next, I edit. In every pass I find something to tweak. This is just life. I evolve. I see. I read better. Whatever. There is no internal judgment, just the work and always improving the work. Other projects are near. I have today. I edit today.

Yes, I am both author and illustrator and the war is on all creators as creativity conquers and empowers over all of humanities ills. It EMPOWERS which is why the top tries to destroy it.
