It was foretold the Odysseus would die at sea, and in Kazantzakis’ sequel, Odysseus grew bored and disenchanted with life in Ithaca. Penelope was and remained a prisoner almost from the day Odysseus left for Troy. So much I wish I had understood for my own life when I was younger.

San Onofre was my first thought. Not to mention what it would do to California’s economy, and to the US economy, if I-5 were damaged and had to be shut down for any period of time. We are in the Peter Sellers period of Trump 47.

There are mercenary goons out there kidnapping people. But the ones in uniform that are legit border patrol units are tactical. They aren’t there for crowd control at a Dead concert.

I looked up the acronyms on the uniforms. These are tactical units — used for hostage situations, riots at DHS detention facilities, civil unrest. Like using a sledgehammer to peel a grape.

Trump doesn’t “own” the country. Congress didn’t appropriate a pile of money for Trump to spend as he wishes. He is functionaly illiterate, ignorant, uncurious and an autocrat. Governing is way to difficult for him — and he doesn’t want to govern anyway. He wants to rule.
