As Waxman-Markey embodied, specific federal legislation targeting anthropogenic climate-changing emissions would have been a much more direct way to go (and may yet be).

The attack on climate action in the US continues as efforts to revoke the endangerment finding get close to the finish line. At that point, ALL federal climate policies in the US will basically be cancelled. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/09/c...

The scientific case is won, the Paris Agreement means all the countries of the world agreed to action, yet it still remains a challenge to shift the dial. Some good news here but depressing that climate change action remains political. 🧪

THERE'S NO MEANINGFUL US CLIMATE REGULATION TO WIPE OUT

look I want my government to acknowledge CO2 bad too but this is not a massive deregulatory victory or whatever
Pretty good summary of the forces arrayed against the CO2 endangerment finding. I think they are counting their chickens prematurely.

This headline should anger everyone as the largest CO2 polluter is set to solidify its position as such and torpedo efforts to cut emissions.

We are racing through 1.5ºC of heating and will likely cross 2ºC in the late 2030's at current heating rates.

This is a crime against all life on earth!

The wierdness of the current European Parliament, however, means that on the same day a hardening of migration laws is adopted with the help of the far-right, a broad majority of the centre plus the Greens adopt a progressive climate law, against the far-right:
C’est une victoire !
Le Parlement européen vient d’adopter la loi climat, fruit d’une large coalition, des Verts à la droite rationnelle, unie autour d’un objectif commun : répondre à l’urgence climatique et assumer la responsabilité historique de l’Europe.

The EPA is expected to revoke the endangerment finding, which has underpinned the government’s ability to fight global warming since 2009.

States can step in to regulate greenhouse gas emissions, and automakers will likely keep trying to reduce emissions to remain competitive in the global market. In the meantime, more Americans will die from air pollution and climate change because of the Trump regime.
