One of funniest things I see is men will push for open marriages thinking they are going to be swimming in it only to whine about how unsuccessful they are while their wives are busy.

But this dude thinks women should be grateful that he does the bare minimum of not cheating.

Their employers said they were great workers, other businesses said they helped revitalize the community, vast majority of local residents' opinions ranged from indifferent to positive. The only reason this became a thing is outside racists thought Haitian migrants in Ohio made for good scapegoats.
This guy is talking about some people who were not white moving to a city because a company located there hired them.

The theory of power that says conservatives as a whole, and young right-wing men in particular, are victims repressed by the left-wing forces dominating society is, in a word, insane.

It cannot possibly be addressed, because it's not true. It's just rationalization for hatred and hurting others.
The New Right's Theory of Power is Insane
It is simply not true that radical leftists took over all major institutions and use them to crush the right, and mainstream figures should stop being afraid to say so

Exactly. Coddling them is not helping them or anyone else, and makes things worse for others.

Hard times are war, depression, tyranny. Not "I saw on my smartphone that people I don't know are reading books at a library in another town at a voluntary family event that I didn't attend." FFS.
I can understand, even if I disagree, why French wants to try and empathize with the concerns of these RW culture war types. But that empathy is just reinforcing their whiny, spoiled attitude when what they need to be told is to grow the fuck up, those aren’t real problems.

But David French, the guys flipping out over Drag Queen Story Hour are the weak men creating hard times.

If they think something has gone terribly wrong, and that the thing is people reading books to kids at a voluntary family event, that's insanely weak. And an excuse to act on irrational hatred.

It's amazing that an unarmed man stopped one of the Bondi Beach shooters, preventing the attack from being even worse.

And it's sad how many feel compelled to note that the hero is Muslim, countering way-too-prevalent bigotry that says hero/villain is inherent to ethno-religious identity.

It is almost always a lot less costly to oppose an aggressor as soon as possible, than to appease an aggressor and hope that'll be the end of it.

I would also add that Trump has pulled lots and lots of federal agents normally tasked with investigating serious crimes off those duties to do immigration enforcement with ICE. bsky.app/profile/atru...
Murphy: "This isn't shocking, bc over last year, Trump has been engaged in a dizzying campaign to increase violence in this country. He's restoring gun rights to felons, eliminated the WH office of gun violence prevention & stopped funding mental health grants & community anti-gun violence grants"

Trump take job
Tyson is shutting down its Lexington, Nebraska plant in January 2026. That’s 3,200 workers gone in one shot, the largest plant shutdown in company history.

Blame Trump’s tariff chaos and the lowest cattle inventories in decades. Tariffs jack up costs. Supply shrinks. Plants close. Towns hollow out.

Growing up a trash ass part of the Midwest, a highlight of everyone’s year was going to the county fair and paying $5 to take three swings at an old Mercury Cougar with a baseball bat or a sledgehammer. I believe the fire department raised about half their budget that way.

Just a thought.

I should add re: the Cajun Navy: an individual can rescue an individual. An individual who joins a movement might be able to change the whole system. Not just helping one person on the Underground Railroad but joining the abolitionist movement that will lead to the end of slavery.

Crime --> no consequences.
Greater crime --> still no consequences.

And so on, still today.

The American right insists that it has the secrets to a happy life.

But what they offer is a prison ship of reactionary politics, misogyny, and contempt for anyone who doesn’t conform to their retrograde expectations.

The trick is most right-wing types who see what Chris Rufo says believe they are the manipulators, not the manipulated. Few besides the Very Online see Rufo’s words directly.

Weirder is how his targets in mainstream media treat him like an assignment editor, as if that shows how unbiased they are.
It's wild how Chris Rufo openly talks about his own followers like they are the dumbest, most contemptible people alive. Which, fair!

But it says a lot about MAGA psychology that they don't seem to mind.

"They say that the prospect of being hanged in the morning concentrates a man’s mind wonderfully; unfortunately, what the mind inevitably concentrates on is that it is in a body that, in the morning, is going to be hanged."
Discworld QOTD, from Moving Pictures

"‘Er, I was just wondering, Mr. Dibbler... what is my motivation for this scene?’

‘Motivation?’

‘Yes. Er, I got to know, see,’ said Rock.

‘How about: I’ll fire you if you don’t do it properly?’

Rock grinned. ‘Right you are, Mr. Dibbler,’ he said."
