"Death of the Author" doesn't mean separating the author's bad behaviour from their art. It means taking away their authority and allowing readers to interpret the art based on their own perspectives. It doesn't absolve the author of being a bastard, in fact it may inform how you interpret the art.

I’ve read more than a few horror novels but very few with prose that writhes around my brain quite so deliciously. Things thing was carved out of rage and lust and celluloid and it bites
