Sure, they've made an environmentally catastrophic mass hallucination disinformation plagiarism Clippy that will destabilize the world, but also their other goal is to replace human workers entirely and let us humans starve. A boycott of AI is the most important boycott of your entire life.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

The best description of the Telegraph you'll read this week.
I just don't need to know what the Telegraph has written about Dungeons & Dragons. It's a newspaper for people who are frightened of samosas.

Tomorrow is December and to the surprise of everyone, and by everyone I mean me, I am supposed to write a 10k secret IP project in December. Surely December 2025 is frickin' AGES away, I can just kick that can down the road forever, right?

Right?

my “AI is over” anecdote is that my wife was hired over the summer to write scripts for a big tech company explaining how to use their AI tools and after many rounds of revisions, the latest notes said “we’re finding a lot of AI fatigue among our users” and to remove all references to AI
Anecdotally on twitter seeing a big shift the last few days from every AI slop account saying every other creative field is “over” and they’re in control now to now posting about how nobody likes them and it’s not fair and they’ll persevere and real artists respect and uplift eachother

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Good thread.
When you see it all laid out, after point after points, it's mind-blowing. And you'll notice that didn't even get into how AI steals from writers and artists. There's so much. How anyone, confronted with all of this, could support AI is baffling

This is kinda fascinating! I'm blocking 173 accounts but being blocked by 445! Interesting that the blocks seem to be in batches of dates, presumably when one of my posts escaped containment.
There are services that can tell you that; I use clearsky.app. This is a reminder that the federated architecture of Bluesky means that who one blocks is available information (it would need to be to carry over to other sites on the same protocol). If this public aspect bothers you, mute instead.
