So this is false, protestors are out here peacefully exercising their 1st Amendment rights to yell at Trump’s thugs. Police rolled by and informed them they were well within their rights. Fuck ICE.

Feeling oddly hopeful after all the conversations I've had about Pittsburgh media the past two weeks. Solutions are out there.

Perhaps coincidentally, the last Amazon fulfillment center in Pittsburgh city limits is preparing to close in favor of exurban locations.
And Amazon got a free goldmine of data about cities’ land availability, workforce, infrastructure and — as @ddayen.bsky.social later wrote — willingness to pony up subsidies for sites Amazon would later select for other uses.

Mike Johnson is saying the quiet part out loud––shooting a woman in the face, tearing apart families, and terrorizing our neighbors is what ICE is *supposed* to be doing.

This is a lawless agency that can't be reformed, retrained, or reined in. It has to be abolished.

This seems like a maliciously put headline to make people feel a certain way.

Wikipedia is not partaking in generative AI. They are making AI companies and scrappers having to pay for training their modules off wikipedia texts. And having an AI (not that ai) tasked with updating dead links.

I took the overnight train from Chicago to Pittsburgh. Got a roomette. There are a lot of advantages to the train compared to flying, including that it allowed me to stream an entire Steelers game while in transit. My story⬇️ www.axios.com/local/pittsb...
The overnight train from Chicago to Pittsburgh is worth it
A sleeper car, no TSA lines and surprisingly good Wi-Fi made this trip better than flying.

RELEASE: The PG’s announced shutdown does not exempt it from the ruling or its obligation to pay workers what they are owed.

That liability continues to accrue until the Post-Gazette restores the previous, contractually bargained terms.

Post-Gazette loses 3rd Circuit appeal request, owes workers restored terms, money | The NewsGuild - TNG-CWA
The ruling means the Post-Gazette must reimburse every bargaining unit member for the costs it has illegally passed on over the last five-and-a-half years.

Living 30 minutes away from a decent Thai restaurant does not grant people magical powers of wisdom and morality.

It is insane that American culture still pretends that this is true.

At this point, nations including Germany should be prepared to expel all of our troops off their territories. We have proven we can't be trusted not to use them to secure Transnistria-style vassal states or worse.

What I wouldn't give to see the Pittsburgh versions of these (because you know they're out there)
The Mercury has obtained a series of images of group messages that show racist, sexist, and homophobic tropes used by a local developer and other local conservative political activists during a council president election. Readers may find this content offensive.
