Possession was a book that made me realize there are books being written right now, this very minute, that are every bit as good or better than the literary classics I read in school.

The film is, somehow, utter garbage. Don’t even know how you drop the ball that badly with that source material.

I didn't even try to go see it but I think it's because the storytelling relies *so much* on written words that trying to make that audio/visual simply does not work.

(Feeling meta now: cf. the scene near the end where the narrator talks about how the joy of reading isn't often shown in books.)
