Minnesota transplant. Beard appreciator (moustache envier).

I HAD A DOCTORATE IN INDUSTRIAL/ORGANIZATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY BUT ON JULY 1ST 2024 I BARGAINED AWAY MY KNOWLEDGE FOR MADNESS AND A VARIETY OF SILLY COSTUMES AND I HAVE YET TO REGRET THIS EXCHANGE.

We are not at war with Venezuela, yet. The boats are civilian craft. The U.S. criminal code does not maintain a death penalty for drug smuggling. Due process is required before conviction or sentence.

All of the 80 people killed thus far are wanton murders slain under illegal orders. All of them.

I don't enjoy any of the mainline Star Wars movies after the original trilogy.

I don't like them because I don't want to keep following the repetitive adventures of the same group of entitled Special Boys and Special Girls.

I don't really like dynasties.

I bring this up for no particular reason.

LIBERALS: If only we'd elected Hillary Clinton none of this would have happened

HILLARY CLINTON, APPEARING AT AN EVENT SPONSORED BY A RIGHT-WING BILLIONAIRE TRUMP MEGADONOR: People who have sympathy for Palestinians getting genocided are dumb kids duped by communist propaganda
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

Hey, @jvl.bsky.social.

I just saw the first two minutes of a recent video and wanted to offer you an opportunity to discuss psychology as a scientific discipline.

I'm a former assistant professor of psychology and would be willing to put on my robe again to clarify some things for you.

I know it is going to sound strange, but I am entering this holiday season with such relief.

Everything reminds me of what I was feeling after the election last year, and what I was feeling was the possibility of successfully totalitarian fascism and sudden collapse.

I'm celebrating their failure.

We are in a bad place, but we have the tools and the opportunity and the courage to find our way out.

A year ago, I feared that would not be the case.

We still have to DO it, of course.

But now, I have faith and belief that there's a path.

i hope every single person who still buys harry potter merch or engages with that franchise is happy that they're literally making girl guides cry

girl guides uk have been forced very much against their will to exclude trans girls. full statement is here: www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-...

The real question is not "Why is Bluesky so left-coded," the real question is "Why can't the right exist in a social media environment without algorithmic assistance, where people can ignore them"

It's great that reporting on the double tap has spotlighted the abject criminality of this Administration.

But don't forget: Venezuela is not waging war on America or Americans, and the men killed were not combatants.

The first strike was every bit as illegal as the second.

Two facts:

-Accessibility and walkability are as strong as their weakest links.

-Uncleared sidewalks are a moral statement (even if it is just the curb cuts)

If grandma can't roll over the snow to catch the bus, it isn't good enough.

we are well past the point at which anyone who cannot identify bad faith like this is disqualified from commenting on it

the girl and her mother are basically screaming THIS IS A BAD FAITH ATTACK ON TRANS PEOPLE at the top of their lungs and if you can't see that you're stupid or lying

I'm going to need everybody to view the Gallago texts and understand that he's merely the one who got caught.
What do you know Gallego is a fascist. Weird if only someone had been pointing that out for months only to be called a conspiracy theorist and a doomer….

The democrats are fundamentally broken and must be destroyed and replaced.
Turns out when you spend a bunch of time with David's Sack and the Crypto Bros, you end up absorbing a whole lot more than their dirty money

Okay, as a former psychology professor, I would have no problem failing this reaction paper.

It's a statement of intolerance directed right at my trans TA, thus violating syllabus.

And PSY 101 isn't a religion class. Nothing about this essay engages with the instructional material. That's a fail.

giving more attention to whether the student's shitty paper was graded too harshly instead of the suspension of the graduate instructor is falling into the Fake Outrage of the Day trap, designed to crush trans rights and academic freedom. i did a chalkboard post to stop myself from falling for it.

A personal update: I have been unemployed long enough to finally follow through on a project I've long toyed with. For years, I've been following Minnesota's appellate dockets and posting about notable or interesting cases and decisions.

Now, I've spun that off into @minnappct.watch

You actually don’t deserve to win an election if you are telling people they will have to give up some of their human rights to win and that they should be happy to do so.

i am dropping my anonymity for a few days to raise money for the aliveness project!

@billkristolbulwark.bsky.social @thebulwark.com

I have grown to respect the hell out of Bill Kristol in recent years. This is the final piece that I need him and folks at places like The Bulwark to understand, articulate, and act upon. Being welcome in the Big Tent doesn't make you the ringmaster.
I understand that the policy role former conservatives such as myself will have in the Big Tent, which is absolutely zero. That's completely fine and fair. It's not policy that interests us at this point.

It is exquisitely painful to say all of this. But given that the Republican Congress has no desire to stop the spread of vaccine disinformation coming from the U.S. government, and in many cases are aiding and abetting it, this will not stop until there is a massive and catastrophic outbreak.
