who was he sharing it within Obama/Biden worlds as well?

Who is the George McClellan setting logistical and organizational conditions for long-term competitiveness?

(It’s probably Gavin Newsom)
I really do like the analogy because the grunts in the army of the Potomac from 1861-1863 had to grind it out under incompetent leadership until the union found Grant, and that kinda feels like what’s going on with the dem party rn…
Listening to the Unclear and Present Danger podcast with @jamellebouie.net , and he made a striking analogy: the Trump administration sorta resembles the Confederacy trying to win everything in the first 24 months...

I’m remembering every official, every lawyer, every investor, every service member who is visibly giddy over this kind of stupidity.

I know they can be entertained and/or distracted by jangling car keys in front of their face.

They also are anxiously awaiting updates on who the dish ran away with…
Even Republicans aren't into the "Department of War" rebranding. Only 42% approve, which is low in such a polarized environment.

Plus Democrats and Independents are solidly opposed.

Americans want a professional, not unhinged military.

The problem is that MAJ Dildo Baggins here can:

1) lie, like John Spencer, into the corridors of power and influence or,

2) lie, and claim “cancellation” and Bari Weiss will bail him out.

Heads we lose, tails he wins.

You know I empathize a lot with Pete here bc being a queer man in policy/politics the social expectations are that either you’re to the left of everyone on everything all the time or you’re DL and usually conservative. There’s no space for “I’m queer and also have nuanced policy views.”

Whatever you do, don't check the Baldur's Gate 3 subreddit.

LeCarré nails this, too.

Even in the corridors of power, they're fidgeting with coal space heaters, drinking coffee concentrate, the cars do not work.

"The West", in his estimation, doesn't reflexively command loyalty. He gives Haydon plausibility that way, makes Smiley feel old as HMS Victory.

Whatever strained and implausible justifications the OLC opinion may purport to provide for the killing spree at sea, the public statements of the administration recently have boiled down to:

Just follow orders.

That appears to be the operative rule the administration wants to establish.
DOJ (longer):

“[T]he strikes were ordered consistent with the laws of armed conflict, and as such are lawful orders.

“Military personnel are legally obligated to follow lawful orders and, as such, are not subject to prosecution for following lawful orders.”
