Folks, please retweet this. Trump, Noem, and the rest are lying everywhere about what ICE is doing in MN. We have to do everything we can to make sure the country has a clear picture of what is going on.
happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.

This is an Underground Railroad style operation. This is what I mean that we should study UR history, tactics, and strategy.

If this message straight from from 1964 doesn't reverberate in your very bones, I don't know what else to tell you that'll make it stick: "Your attitude of genuine respect for your students and their ideas will give them much more courage to stand up to a policeman, than any words you can say."
"Try to give your students as much a feeling of power as you can...power over materials, words, songs, thoughts. If you really let them choose what they want to learn, it will be a much more important lesson in freedom than the Civil Rights Bill or the Mississippi Power Structure."

Sigh. Even if genAI chatbots were effective at this, how does it overcome the ethical issues like theft of intellectual property, power use, water use, labor abuses, or other environmental effects on communities with the data centers?
If you use it as a dialogic thinking space where you externalities thought and use it to hold, reshape, question, extent, perturb your thinking. Just like a good teacher or mentor could, except you need to set and guide the interaction style.

What’s happening in Chicago is awful. Here’s an opportunity to support mutual aid from a friend in Chicago that I fully trust www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/...

This is the line that Dems need to push. It can't be simply. "Political violence is bad" it MUST be "Political violence is bad and Trump and his ilk are responsible for creating conditions ripe for political violence"
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) on the shooting of Charlie Kirk:

"Political violence, unfortunately, has ramped up in this country ... I think there are people who are fomenting it in this country. I think the president's rhetoric often foments it."

University admins literally run institutions full of experts in every subject and not only do they never consult them, they go out of their way to insult that expertise while following the world's most deliberately stupid consultants. Every time. It's a death cult.
These people know nothing about our professions, yet they presume to tell us confidently that AI will "replace" us and it matters what they say because the people in charge of funding universities sadly take their guidance not from faculty but from techbros/companies like this.
Kiran Tomlinson has no experience working in these fields, what archives has he visited? What oral histories has he collected? Why should we be buying his analysis of how AI will replace us? Neither have @soniajaffe.bsky.social, Will Wang, Scott Counts or Siddharth Suri.
They know NOTHING.

As we see another tax cut, reducing funding available for Utah students, keep an eye on further attempts to reduce or eliminate income tax.

There are lot of better ways to spend this money to help kids and improve our education system instead of vouchers. Voucher programs have no oversight and bad outcomes.
